Jeremy Nichols Sweeps Top Events At Christian County Fair Race
Lovington, IL Driver Continues His Strong Season

One time a year, drivers in central Illinois get the opportunity to race at the Christian County Fair and Taylorville IL Speedway.  For a short time during the afternoon, it looked like the Larry’s Service Center NAPA Tripleheader may not take place after a strong storm brought heavy rain through the area.  After a lot of work, about one foot of water was pumped off of the frontstretch and racing went on as planned.

The first feature on track was the West Sand & Trucking Sportsman 20-lapper.  Timmy Dick and Dennis Vandermeersch brought the field to green with Dick going into the lead.  Eventually, mixed with a couple of cautions, division frontrunner, Jeremy Nichols, was able to take second from Vandermeersch.  At that point, the Lovington, IL driver set his sights on the race leader and it didn’t take long for Nichols to wrestle the top spot away to cruise to victory.  Following Nichols was Dick, Vandermeersch, Troy Medley, and Danny Smith.

Up next was the Midwest Big Ten Series Street Stock feature event.  In this race, Nichols got to start from the pole with Jason Scrimpsher alongside.  Nichols jumped out into the early lead after a couple of failed starts for spins in the field.  Darrell Dick, who started eighth, had a great run, moving through the field to settle in the second spot.  Terry Reed moved into third, with Jeff Reed, Jr. grabbing fourth.  The biggest mover in the race was Chris Dick, who started 19th and worked his way to fifth before the checkered fell.  None of those drivers, however, had anything for Nichols, who went two-for-two on the night.

The final race of the night was the smoothest and cleanest event of the evening, the Hornet feature.  Outside polesitter, Jeremy Reed, raced into the lead and never looked back, though, Dustin Reed was within striking distance as he filled in for Tony Reed.  In the race that went caution free, Rafe McKenna, Marty Sullivan, and Mike McChristy completed the top five.

All-in-all, the Larry’s Service Center NAPA Tripleheader was a huge success, considering the torrential rains that the fairgrounds received earlier in the day.  The event was presented by GSI, Dekalb-Asgrow, Sloan Implement, and Brent West Sand & Trucking and was run under the direction and rules of Track Enterprises.
