From Track Enterprises – DuQuoin, IL-(September 2, 2016)-One of the most prestigious races on the modified racing calendar returns for the 23rd edition as UMP Dirt Car Modified teams and drivers converge at the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds for two days of racing action this Saturday and Sunday night on the Magic Mile. Heat races for the Bill Oldani Memorial are set for Saturday night with the finale set for Sunday evening.
Last year Brian Shaw of Robinson overcame a penalty assessed at the start and served under a lap 12 caution to pass leader Ken Schrader and become the first four-time winner of the Oldani Memorial. Schrader, himself a three time winner of the event, finished second. Shaw also set a new 5 mile record for the modifieds in winning his heat race while Schrader set fast time and a new track record in group qualifying.
Numerous drivers from Missouri and Illinois are on the pre-race entry list including Taylorvill’s Curt Rhodes who has completed 196 laps in 16 Oldani starts and DuQuoin’s Chris Winters looking for his 9th start on the Magic Mile.
Heat races are slated to begin before the Ted Horn 100 Saturday night at the DuQuoin State Fair with the Oldani Memorial feature event slotted at approximately 6:30 Sunday night before the ARCA General Tire Grabber 100.
