Batesville, Arkansas (09/14/16) – After being injured in a wild wreck in mid-July, Jared Landers had hoped to return to the driver’s seat this week during the 13th annual Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals. Unfortunately, the pilot of the Crop Production Services #777 Mark Martin Automotive/ Sweet Bloomquist/ Durham Racing Engine Super Late Model will have to wait a few more weeks before he gets to race again.

“I went to the doctor this week, and he gave me good news and bad news,” said the 34-year-old, Landers. “He told me that the carotid artery is definitely healing, but it’s just healing a little slower than originally projected. As a result, he told me to be safe that I needed to wait and undergo more tests in two weeks to determine if I’m ready to race again or not.”

Jared suffered a torn carotid artery in his neck in a wild flip at Tri City Speedway (Granite City, Illinois) on July 15. The extent of the injury wasn’t discovered until mid-August, and he’s been out of action ever since.

“It stinks to have to wait a little longer until I get to race again, but clearly I don’t want to rush this at all,” said Landers. “I have my whole life still to race, but right now I want to look out for what’s in the best interest of my family and myself.”

He concludes by saying, “I just want to thank all of my sponsors and my fans for their great support during this really trying time. Their backing and words of encouragement have helped me more than they’ll ever know. When I do get back on the track again, I honestly believe that my focus and my determination will be stronger than it’s ever been.”
