Inside Line Promotions – FARMINGTON, Mo. (Sept. 30, 2016) – The locals took it to the invaders on Friday during the opening round of the 21st annual Queen’s Royale at St. Francois County Raceway.

Joey Montgomery earned his first career National Sprint League feature victory as he led the final 11 laps of the caution-free main event to score the win. Montgomery is the 12th different NSL winner this season and 21st in the two-year history of the series.

The highest finishing National Sprint League regular was Danny Lasoski, who used a sixth-place result to secure his second straight NSL championship.

The 25-lap feature began with Tim Montgomery taking advantage of his pole position as he quickly drove into the lead. Joey Montgomery maneuvered into second place on the opening lap and he stalked the leader for the first half of the race.

Traffic appeared on Lap 11 and four laps later Tim Montgomery was slowed while trying to lap another competitor, which allowed Joey Montgomery to pounce.

“We knew (the rubber) was coming at some time,” Joey Montgomery said during a Victory Lane interview. “Tim slipped up behind a lapped car. It was a great race.”

Joey Montgomery held off Tim Montgomery for the remainder of the race as fellow locals Kent Buckley and 2016 St. Francois County Raceway track champion Tommy Worley Jr. finished third and fourth, respectively.

Kraig Kinser rounded out the top five in a race that lasted only 5 minutes, 56 seconds.

The night began with Parker Price-Miller setting quick time during qualifying before Brian Brown, Jacob Patton, Kory Bales, Scottie Gretzmacher and Worley Jr. each won a heat race. Patton and Dustin Homan were the B Main winners.

The 21st annual Queen’s Royale wraps up on Saturday. It will also mark the season finale for the National Sprint League.
