Welcome, North Carolina (11/28/16) – Dale McDowell put a wrap on a successful 2016 season by piloting his Sweet-Bloomquist #17m Team Dillon Racing/ Bad Boy Off Road Super Late Model to the $5,000 win in the inaugural Leftover at 411 Motor Speedway.
Team Dillon racing and Dale McDowell traveled to 411 Motor Speedway (Seymour, Tennessee) on Saturday night, where Dale was one of 29 Super Late Models signed in for the inaugural Leftover.
Laying down the 2nd fastest time overall behind Jimmy Owens, McDowell received the pole position for the main event after the redraw. Jumping into the lead on the drop of the green flag, Dale McDowell battled through persistent lapped traffic as he strove to keep Owens behind him. McDowell would be successful in his mission as he led all 50 laps en route to claiming the victory and the $5,000 payday. Jimmy Owens, Donald McIntosh, Jackie Boggs, and Jason Hiett completed the Top 5 finishers.
The win was his seventh of 2016.
“I knew Jimmy (Owens) was right there on me and I just really was hoping I wasn’t going to have to wreck one of those (lapped cars),” McDowell said. “It was a little tough coming through there, but it was the same for everybody so we were fortunate tonight.”
