Wheatland, Missouri (May 2, 2017) – It’s a triple treat for open-wheel racing fans this Saturday at Lucas Oil Speedway with the 6th annual Impact Signs Awnings & Wraps Open Wheel Showdown.

Bringing some of the nation’s top open-wheel talent to south-central Missouri, the program will feature a huge triple-header. Included will be the Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region Winged Sprint Cars Presented by Impact Signs Awnings & Wraps along with the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Red River Region Winged Sprint Cars; the Lucas Oil POWRi Wingless Auto Racing Sprint Cars and the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget Series.

“This is going to be a good one, just like always, as I know our fans are hungry to get back to the track after two weekends of rain,” Lucas Oil Speedway General Manager Dan Robinson said. “The weather forecast for Saturday looks terrific and the action on the track promises to be just as outstanding.

“Impact Signs Awnings Wraps and (owner) David Goodson is a tremendous supporter of dirt-track racing and we appreciate them returning as the title sponsor for our Open Wheel Showdown,” Robinson added. “The Open Wheel Showdown always is one of the highlights of our season.

“When you get the two ASCS Winged Sprints tours competing together along with the WAR Sprints and the POWRi Lucas National Midget Series on the same program, it’s going to be a fantastic night of open-wheel racing.”

In addition to the racing action, the first 300 youngsters through the main gates will receive free checkered flags, courtesy Impact Signs Awnings & Wraps.

The POWRi Lucas Oil Midgets fire up a doubleheader weekend on Friday at Valley Speedway in Grain Valley. Christopher Bell of Norman, Okla., driving for legendary car owner Keith Kunz, leads the points, winning both features contested so far in 2017. Bell is not scheduled to be at Lucas this weekend, but Kunz is bringing a five-car lineup, he said Tuesday.
