Officials Err On Side Of Caution With Impending Storm

(Decatur, IL) Officials from Macon Speedway, Lincoln Speedway, and the Midwest Big Ten Series have made the decision to postpone the 2018 Awards Banquet that was scheduled for Saturday, January 19 at the Decatur Conference Center & Hotel.  The event has been rescheduled for Saturday, February 2 due to the incoming winter storm, which could create treacherous driving conditions.

Speedway officials decided to make the decision for the safety of those who were planning to attend.  At the time of the decision, The Weather Channel was calling for a possible total of 6-11 inches of snow with steady 30 mile per hour winds and gusts as high as 50.

“We really put a lot of time and effort into the planning for the season awards banquet so we were looking forward to having it this weekend.  That said, we have to realize we have drivers coming from all over the state and travel conditions will likely be less than favorable.  Hopefully the February 2 date is the safer option,” Stated Track Enterprises Operations Manager, Adam Mackey.

The Decatur Conference Center and Hotel will provide the delicious buffet style meal that includes salad, fried chicken, roast beef, pasta salad, au gratin potatoes, green beans, dinner rolls, and desserts.  Coffee, tea, and water is also included while other drinks will be available for purchase at the bar.

Those who couldn’t attend this weekend can still call to order tickets for the new February 2 date.  Cost will be $20 if paid by January 28 or $25 after that date.  Doors will open at 6:00 for cocktail hour, dinner at 7:00, and awards will be handed out at 8:00.  To RSVP, call 217-764-3200.
