Picking up his 13th career victory with the Built Ford Tough Midwest Open Wheel Association Sprint Car Series Delivered by Morrow Brothers Ford, Inc., Paul Nienhiser did so in dominating fashion. Originally scheduled for Friday, April 6th, to be the season opening event for the MOWA Sprint Cars, Mother Nature decided otherwise, thus shifting to Sunday.

19 cars signed in to compete for the Sunday afternoon event at Jacksonville Speedway, in Jacksonville, Illinois. A three heat format was used for the afternoon’s program, automatically transferring all cars to the 25-Lap A-Main event.

Joe B. Miller, a well-known name in the POWRi Speedway Motors Outlaw Micros, captured the win in the first of three heat races. Jeremy Standridge was able to finish second, ahead of Paul Nienhiser, Dylan Tuxhorn and 2019 MOWA Rookie contender, Kyle Schuett, who rounded out the top five.

In the second heat race, Austin O’Dell took advantage of his 2nd-place starting spot to record the win over Bill Balog, Steve Short, Jacob Patton and Brayden Fox, who finished fifth.

The final heat race of the event saw names familiar with non-wing sprint car racing in the likes of Korey Weyant and Carson Short. Weyant outlasted battles from Short and Logan Faucon to pick up the heat win. Short, a first-time winner with the MOWA Sprints at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa, last night, crossed the line in second. Logan Faucon, Jason Keith and Bret Tripplett filled out the top five.

Paul Nienhiser and Logan Faucon led the field to the green flag, with Nienhiser getting the early jump over the field. He was able to stretch his lead over the field, only to be slowed by yellow flags and one red-flag period, which saw Austin O’Dell collide with the turn three wall before landing on his wheels. Nienhiser ripped around the top side of the 1/4 –mile bullring to pick up his thirteenth career win with the MOWA Sprint Car Series. 2016 Series Champion Parker Price-Miller started 16th and finished second, while Korey Weyant, Jeremy Standridge and Robbie Standridge completed the top five. Jacob Patton, the 2018 Champion, finished sixth, Logan Faucon, Brayden Fox, Kyle Schuett and Steve Short rounded out the top ten.
The Built Ford Tough MOWA Sprint Car Series Delivered by Morrow Brothers Ford returns to action this Friday night, April 12 at Tri-City Speedway, in Granite City, Illinois.
