Brian Shirley Plans Lucas Oil Late Model Run in 2020
Team Welcomes Hoker Trucking as Marketing Partner

CHILTON, Wis. (12/13/19) – Brian Shirley will return to national touring competition in 2020. Shirley announced on Thursday that he will pilot the Bob Cullen Racing No. 3s Thomason Express/ J&J Ventures Gaming/ XR1 Rocket Chassis/ Durham Racing Engine Super Late Model on the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) next season.

Coming off a 16-win 2019 season that saw him capture his second-consecutive DIRTcar Summer Nationals title as well as the DIRTcar weekly series national crown, Shirley, 38, will chase the LOLMDS for the first time in his career.

“We’ve been fortunate that Bob and Lisa Cullen have stepped up their program,” Shirley said of his Wisconsin car owners, whom he began driving for in late 2015. “We have the same (XR1 Rocket) cars, but we’re gonna have better preparation, more help, so obviously we need to get in there and prove to our sponsors and people that own the team that making this big investment is going to be well worth it and we need to start winning right off the bat.”

Shirley’s move to the LOLMDS is buoyed by the addition of crew chief Anthony Burroughs, and crewman Aaron Mitchell and Mikey Myers. “Having a team with three full-timers makes a national tour assault possible,” Shirley asserted.

Brian Shirley and Bob Cullen Racing would also like to welcome Hoker Trucking of Dixon, Iowa as a premier marketing partner for the upcoming season. “Jeff and Penny Hoker are very passionate about this sport and the teams they support. They will make a great addition to our program and I am looking forward to representing them across the country,” Shirley added.

The team plans to open the 2020 campaign on January 3-5 with the World of Outlaws (WoO) Morton Buildings Late Model Series at Vado Speedway Park (Vado, New Mexico) before invading FK Rod Ends Arizona Speedway (Queen Creek, Arizona) on January 11-19 for the 14th Annual Keyser Manufacturing Wild West Shootout.

Shirley’s quest for the LOLMDS title begins January 31st at Golden Isles Speedway near Brunswick, Ga. For a complete LOLMDS schedule, please visit: www.LucasDirt.com.
