Busy Schedule Ahead for Best Performance Motorsports

ST. MARYS, Ohio (07/13/20) –  Kicking off a busy stretch of events for the Best Performance Motorsports team, Tyler Erb picked up the win in Wednesday’s DIRTcar Summer Nationals opener at Brownstown (Ind.) Speedway.

Erb drove the Industrial Resourcing Group No. 1 Best Performance Motorsports/ Rocket Chassis/ Durham Racing Engine Super Late Model to a $5,000 triumph.

Erb was one of 22 DIRTcar Late Models on hand at Brownstown Speedway for the Hoosier Dirt Classic. After setting the fast time in qualifying with a blistering lap of 13.568 seconds, Erb picked up a 10-lap heat race victory, which positioned him on the pole for the main event.

With Bobby Pierce jumping into the lead and setting the pace early, Tyler began closing in on the leader after a caution flew on lap 31. Overtaking Pierce on lap 36, Erb went on to pick up his fourth win of the season over Pierce, Mike Marlar, Allen Weisser, and Kyle Bronson.

“I knew I wasn’t very good running around the top like Bobby was, so I was better off to kind of float in the middle,” Erb said. “I finally figured out how to (exit) turn four with a little bit of a speed. … I was waiting for Bobby to move down. I honestly thought he might try to block.

“I think he just had his momentum built up so much there he couldn’t do it, and I just kept working him and working him. I didn’t see him (exiting turn) two, I believe, and I got pretty clear and I sailed her pretty hard into (turns) three and four and never saw him.”

Full results from the event can be found at www.DIRTcarSummerNationals.com.

Returning to action on Friday, the team headed to Florence Speedway (Union, Ky.) for the two-day General Tire Summer Sizzler Nationals. Drawing 33 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) entries for the two-day event, Tyler edged his way into the $12,000-to-win A-Main with the fourth and final transfer spot in his heat race. Rolling off 13th the grid, Erb fell seven spots in the 50-lapper to place 20th.

Saturday night’s finale at Florence Speedway fell victim to Mother Nature.

Tyler is currently fourth in the latest LOLMDS championship standings. Full results from these events are available at www.LucasDirt.com.

Erb returns to the LOLMDS tour tonight (Monday, July 13) at 300 Raceway in Farley, Iowa. From there, the team will enter a string of DIRTcar Summer Nationals events throughout the week before ending the week with a trio of LOLMDS events.
