Pevely, MO (April 2nd, 2022) Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 kicked off the 2022 racing with just over 100 cars in the pit area. With over four inches of rain earlier in the week on top of the 195 new loads of dirt added to the track, some challenging track conditions were expected. With turn one being in the most shaded area, that was the corner that didn’t hold together well and provided quiet a few challenges.

The Bi-State Battle DIRTcar UMP Late Model feature had Daryn Klein moving straight to the lead from his fourth place starting position on the opening lap with front row starters Michael Kloos and Mike Chasteen, Jr. keeping pace with him through the opening laps. Chasteen would be the first caution of the event as he slowed down the back stretch and stopped in turn three. On the restart, Klein took command again while Kloos, Bobby Pierce and Mark Voigt battled for second through fourth. After several laps of battling through traffic, the red flag would fly for Brian Wolfmeier as his car bounced through the rough area in turns one and two and collected by Paul Roider sending Wolfmeier’s car up on it’s side. Everyone was alright after the incident and once again Klein jumped out to the lead on the restart. The red flag would fly again with ten laps to go when Kayden Clatt got into the outside wall in turn one and barrel rolled several times. He would also walk away. On the restart, Klein once again led but this time Pierce got around Kloos and settled into the second position. The final caution fell with five laps remaining. On the final restart, Pierce and Klein left nothing on the table as they fought for the lead. With three laps to go, Klein would hook a rut in turn one causing him to take evasive action to avoid the wall allowing Pierce to drive by. Pierce would go on to take the win. Klein would recover and finish second with Kloos third, Voigt fourth and Tyler Worley with a great run rounding out the top five.

The DIRTcar UMP Modifieds didn’t disappoint as a last lap pass sent Mike Harrison to victory lane. On the start, Harrison actually took the lead on the opening lap and pulled away to a commanding lead as the race went the first ten laps caution free. That caution was for second place running Dylan Sharpe who slowed with a flat left rear. On the restart, Harrison would once again lead while Rick Conoyer, Timmy Hill and Michael Ledford fiercly battled for second. Another caution would fly a few laps later. On this restart, Harrison would bobble in the ruts in turns one and two allowing Conoyer to take the lead. A late race caution with just two laps to go would setup and final duel for the win. Conoyer brought them to green on the final restart. Harrison would get a big run down the back stretch on the final lap to take the win. Conoyer would finish second with Hill third, Ledford fourth and Trevor Neville completing the top five.

Tommy Gaither would jump to the lead at the start of the DIRTcar Pro Modified feature event and dominate until a late race caution tightened up the field. Austin Seets worked his way up from a tenth place starting spot to second and had a great battle with Gaither for lead after the restart. Gaither would hold off the challenges from Seets to get the win with Seets finishing second. Dave Armstrong, Brian Vinson and Joel Ortberg would complete the top five.

In the AARA Sportsman division, sixty-nine year old Jerry Radeacker took the early lead and led the first half of the event. Lee Stuppy would work his way paste Radeacker for the lead around the half way point and go on to victory. Radeacker would finish second with Joshua Hawkins, Josh Ramer and Andrew Dudash rounding out the top five.

The AARA Pro 4 Stock division would see twin brothers Clayton and Bradley Stanfill starting on the front row. Clayton would get to the lead and battle through lapped traffic and hold off all challengers for the win. Lynn Lash would finish second with Chuck Johnson taking third. Bradley Stanfill would battle back to fourth after recovering from a flat tire earlier in the race. Keith Rapp would come home fifth.
