West Plains, MO (July 17) The 15th Annual Dirt Works Race Car Sponsored Modified Show-Me Championship is set to begin on Thursday, August 2, with the first round of qualifying action. Winner of this event will pocket a hefty $6,500 while the start money is $650.

Winner of the '06 event was Peyton Taylor of Batesville, AR, who started in the 5th position and worked his way through the front runners to take the lead position by lap 16 of the 40-lap feature. Last year 49 modified drivers representing six states were on hand for this annual event.

The program will include the 3-night qualifiying format beginning on Thursday and continuing through Saturday, August 4. Each night the modified cars will run heats and a nightly qualifying feature where 8 will transfer to the Championship event on Saturday. Support classes on Thursday will be the Hobby Stock and Youth Hobby Stock.

Friday night the same modified format will provide 8 more to the Saturday feature and the support class will be the Cruisers running their weekly points program.

Saturday, Round 3 will produce the last 8 to advance to the feature field. The 25th, and final starting spot will be reserved for the highest points driver from the weekly race program, not already qualified into the Championship event. Support class will be the Super Stock.

Total purse for this event will exceed $40,000 so it will certainly provide enough interest to attract a good field of regional drivers. Camping space is offered on site free of charge with showers and restrooms, but no electric hookups are available. Gates will open each night at 6 PM, with hotlaps set for 7:30 PM and racing at 8 PM.

Admission is $8 for adults on Thursday and Friday nights, kids age 7-11 $2, and those 6 and under are always free. Saturday night admission is $12 for adults, $4 for kids age 7-11. Pit passes are $25 on Thursday and Friday, and $30 on Saturday night.
