2003 Columbus Season Opener this Saturday

COLUMBUS, MISSISSIPPI-Columbus Speedway will unleash the 2003 Columbus Speedway Weekly Racing Series this Saturday night March 1st with racing scheduled for a 7pm start. The exciting evening is presented by Boland Performance of Cuba, Alabama including the “Golden Triangle 30” for the Super Late Models. All the Columbus Speedway Heavy Metal divisions will be in action for the first WRS event of the 2003 season.

Divisions in competing include the Super Late Models, Mississippi Modifieds, Pro Street, Street Stocks, Mini Stocks, Cruisers, and Pro 4 divisions. A Full Racing Program will be the order of the evening for the first points event of the season as drivers begin the long journey towards each division’s Championship title which will culminate in late September. Many of the regions best drivers are expected to be on hand in all divisions at Johnny Stokes popular high banked speed-plant as teams are chomping at the bit after a brief racing hibernation during the off-season. Many drivers are also expected to be on hand this weekend in order to gain ever so critical track time for the upcoming Rebel Challenge as well.

There is also an open house this Friday night as grandstand admission is free for the test and tune practice session that will be ongoing from 7pm until 10pm. Fans are invited to come out and see the Columbus drivers new cars at speed and to spend a very economical evening at the Speedway. Pit admission is $10 on Friday night for practice.

Event information for the Golden Triangle 30 on Saturday night includes grandstand gates opening at 5pm with racing at 7:00pm. Adult grandstand admission is $10 with children under the age of 11 years old admitted free. Pit gates open at 3pm.
