Rich Vleck, TULSA, Okla. (February 26, 2009)- In what is shaping up to be the biggest season in ASCS Patriot history, a 27-race schedule filled with increased purses and multiple point funds that have been established.

The active tour, this year with title advertising support from Lucas Oil Products, includes three new racetracks, two facilities not on the schedule last year and another three that had their 2008 events rained out. Fans of those seven facilities, plus the nine returning speedways are sure to be thrilled by what is in store for this year.

The season will kick off for the third straight season at the famous Fulton Speedway. In the 2008 lid-lifter, rain forced the postponement of the A-feature to this year. Twenty-two drivers have a chance to take home some extra cash before starting the 2009 season later in the night. Fulton will also host the first A-Verdi King of Central New York event of the year, a series that will help to comprise the “Five Crown Tour”, featuring multiple regional point funds.

The following week, the Lucas Oil ASCS Patriots will travel their farthest point east ever to the popular Albany-Saratoga Speedway. This race is a great treat to the number of Patriot Travelers that have never had a race so close to home. A busy May continues a week later will see the first of two trips to Black Rock Speedway, a former home for the series.

The holiday weekends will be a time for plenty of Patriot action as a pair of shows at Sharon Speedway in Ohio and Eriez Speedway in Pennsylvania will help to create the King of OH/PA “Sheriez” that could produce a massive payout to one lucky driver. More on the “Sheriez” in the weeks to come. The Labor Day event at Eriez will also serve at the Overall Championship Finale.

Woodhull Raceway returns in 2009 and serves as the opener to the all-new PJ Motorsports King of the Southern Tier Series, which will also feature a pair of events at Stateline Speedway and a return to the Arcade International Raceway. Formerly known as Freedom, Arcade is being operated by former winning ASCS Patriot Car Owner Carl Drum.

The “Land of Legends” Canandaigua Speedway, the only track to host a Patriot race since the series’ inception in 2003, will be back in 2009 with the second race in the A-Verdi Series. Other King of CNY races include return trips to Brewerton Speedway and the Cayuga County Fair Speedway in July. The series will crown its third champion at Black Rock Speedway on August 7, for the 11th Annual $4,000-to-win Insinger Race Fuels NY Nationals.

The Patriots return to Northern Ontario in July with a pair of full point races at Brockville Ontario Speedway plus the first visit to the exciting Cornwall Motor Speedway. These races, along with a non-points event in October at Brockville, will comprise the Riverside Bar and Grill King of the St. Lawrence Series.

Southern Ontario will also see their share of Lucas Oil ASCS Patriot action, with a pair of appearances at Ohsweken Speedway, including the $3,000-to-win Northern Summer Nationals. The Merrittville and Humberstone Speedways will each host events this August after both suffering rainouts last season. These four races will make up the King of the Golden Horseshoe Series.

Other big money events are sprinkled throughout the schedule including the $9,000-to-win 5th Annual Canadian Sprint Car Nationals at Ohsweken Speedway, the $6,000-to-win 1st Annual Quebec 360 Sprint Nationals at Autodrome Drummond in August and the $3,000-to-win NY Sprint Challenge that has been moved to Cayuga County Fair Speedway in October.

With Lucas Oil Products as title sponsor in 2009, the competition is bound to only get better with all races paying a minimum of $1,750-to-win and the cash payout at the Awards Banquet surpassing $30,000!

“We are thrilled at the way things have come together for 2009,” stated Patriot Regional Director Mike Emhof. “We have some great programs in place that will help out drivers that can’t make every event, but for those that can, we have a great point fund in place for them.”

2008 Patriot Champion Bryan Howland has already stated that he plans to defend his title this season. He will have a number of other 20-somethings chasing the crown this year though with Jared Zimbardi, Scott Kreutter, Kyle Moffit and T.J. Newton gearing up for the season. Gary Troutman, Don Adamczyk and Chris Muhleisen are just some of the veterans ready to return with a vengeance. Throw in the other names such as the Breen Brothers, Bubba Broderick, Jared Fink, Dave Wickham, Derek Jonathan, Andy Noto and Joe August Jr. and you have the makings of a great core of competitors for the 2009 season.
