2015 UMP DIRTcar B-Mod Rules

so do I have to spend $500 on new shocks ???? way to much to change--as I stated earlier-gradually bring rule changes into play---
Lenny don't forget you have to come up with a new 602 sealed CRATE engine! The rules state it is the only engine allowed!!! I know a few Ford guys aren't going to be happy! Why on earth are they trying to make cookie cutter classes? I don't get why these promoters are allowing this! All it is doing is gonna run a few more cars and fans way. It is hard for even a street stock class to even run anything but a GM product! Where is the heart of competition?

Most guys like us can mount it alcohol but most in this class can't so simplify rules and allow jbars so existing chassis will be legal, just a little tweaking of rules can save major work

J bars are allowed in the ump rules as are eliminator's. Also your open motors are legal fords and dodge's are legal also. Hope this clears some stuff up

Been telling this for days^^^^
The way I read them, jbar is mentioned early in the rules but later says you have to run long panhard bar behind rear end. Also, says you can run eliminators, but your springs must be mounted on top of rear end above centerline of axel. Last, it says your motor has to be a max 360ci chevy with flat tappet cam, not even roller rockers. VERY POORLY WEITTEN RULES. I think you guys may be defending your assumptions. I may be wrong.

I thought they tried crate motor motors or start a class for them several yrs ago if my memory is right. went over then about like its going now

All everyone kept hearing is "we need a set of uniformed rules from UMP" so now UMP has came out with a set of rules that pretty much lets you go from track to track that runs b-mods and all we hear now is complaining!!!! Seriously people???!!!! You are complaining over nothing!! The ones who should be on here throwing a fit is the street stock/factory stock guys!!! They have no rules what so ever and you guys are pissing and whining over a set of rules you asked for!!! Atleast you guys can go run other tracks.....the streey stocks/factory stocks are limited to 3 or 4 tracks in this area!!!! Quit your bitching and suck ot up and abide by the rules or dont run that class ots rhat simple!!! By the way i am by no means a UMP fan!!! But they gave you what you asked for and now your bitching!!! SMH

They must have written them wrong and also lied to me on the phone, good luck

yes a uniform set of rules is needed and asked for. However just because they are now uniform does not mean they are good rules. mandating an engine and one engine only is not helping this class. Too many racers already have engines that they have paid for. So UMP did not even consider this, for them its all about collecting money from GM on crates. UMP is not looking out for anyone but UMP. They have alienated those that already have engine, non GM engine owners and anyone in that does not want to run a crate. Really hoping there will be tracks this year with alternatives cause crates only is a no go.

Crates are NOT MANDATED! And for you guys in the St . Louis area there is very minimal change if you think you've gotta bitch the guys up north cars are basically useless under this set of rules!

Your right Aaron! People simply can not read what the rules state!! It plainly says crates are a option and gives the dates of 2015,2016,2017! Its amazing how people just want something to complain about!!!

Crates or bow tie blocks There lies a huge gripe as some run fords Stupid and useless to even demand that so there is room to gripe there and i dont blame the ones who do Yes you can make a j bar work behind the rear end but guess what? Some cars you have to move things like fuel cell and or brackets Battery mounting ect Its just a stupid rule Why does it matter anyway? That is why people are griping and i dont blame them along with allowing quick changes in an economy class Heck let them rum high dollar shocks and just choke the motors down to make it more "economical" Its like they write a rule but then say something different further on down

What if someone breaks a motor? Most guys i know have a spare motor or have the ability to put one together relatively quickly. Spare parts combined with your block from 94 and you have something to get you through until your good motor is ready.

But what about if your forced to run the GM crate motor? Suddenly you find your engine down on compression on a couple cylinders. You cant fix it yourself per UMP rules, even though the parts are available online or at most GM dealers. You cant just yank it out and toss in the ol tried n true spare motor in the corner of your uncles barn. Nope. Now you have to order another $5500 crate engine, wait for it to get there, then put it in, all the while hoping the part that failed doesnt fail on your new engine.

Now were up to $11,000 in engines. I might have to take off my boot to count, but it seems like that number exceeds what alot of local racers can afford. Kudos to those who can. But most guys run the same motor year in and year out, refreshing at their chosen interval. $5500. The guys that put Mullins motors in their sportsman or bmod cars certainly can afford a crate, but im positive they are the minority.

Make the crate engine an OPTION, not a REQUIREMENT. And dont kill the little guys with weight penalties because they choose to put their money elsewhere. Not everyone has an unlimited budget.

Not sure how a post from 2014 got on this. This was not done by Kevin

Tri City is NOT UMP Sanctioned for B-Mods. We had a B-Modified rules meeting and let the
driver's vote on being UMP Sanctioned and put together a set of rules the driver's tweeked and
agreed on. DRIVER's chose not to be UMP Sanctioned and we agreed.

We get a good car count and will keep our rules.

This is not about a competition between tracks or who's better, who's UMP or NOT. Tracks do what
they want for a sanction and it should be up to them.

Driver's choose where they want to race.

Were lucky to have a great car count and great support!

We have great racing in our area and our fortunate to have several tracks to race at. Getting on here
and bashing and putting tracks down is not what any of us need. We need to all sit down together and
put together our own local series and make it good for all driver's and tracks.
