2015 UMP DIRTcar B-Mod Rules

Read 'em and weep,,,,,,,you all wanted a set of rules. I kind of like them since I was the one wanting to go IMCA. Rules are at least 90% IMCA.LOL

i dont mind these rules, they could use a slight amount of tweaking but this is a LIMITED mod class. what some guys seem to be wanting to race as a b-mod could run top 5 in the regular modified class at some local tracks which to me isnt the point. I have this fantasy of being able to race affordably. Unless the payout is going to magically go up, maybe the cost needs to go down? I guess a lot of people never looked at USRA rules either

B.) One (1) four (4) barrel 650 cfm unaltered Holley carburetor, Part Number 4777 or 80777 or Holley HP Carburetor Part Number 80541-1, (-2) will be permitted. One (1) two (2) barrel unaltered 500 cfm Holley carburetor will be permitted. All carburetor components must remain unaltered. Any changes will result in disqualification from the event. Any alterations to the carburetor will not be permitted.

So, I read that and it appears you can run two carbs per engine, because one of each is permitted...lol

Looks to me like all I need to buy to win is a NEW shaw sport mod, REM polished and lightened quick change, dynoed crate, REM polished Bert tranny, "special carb", "special headers", new tires every night, sirpintine belt set up for less drag, ceramic bearings with spacers on all hubs, and find a way to cheat my new "certified" shocks. SOUNDS LIKE AN AFFORDABLE CLASS TO ME. SAME STUPID RULES ALREADY KILLED THE CRATE LATE MODELS!!!!! The class was growing because you could start the sport with old equipment.

Example.....before these rules a new guy wanting to fulfill his childhood dream of racing could have bought any old mod for 1500-2500. Put his derby/street rod/mud truck motor in with a 100$ swap meet carb and joined our wonderful world of racing. I've helped lots of people do this. Like BWRC said, no one's car fits these current rules. New guys won't understand the suspension changes and fabrication. Therefore they will stay in the stands. This also hurts A mod guys. They have no one to sell old equipment and motor parts to.
Bad move for the big picture.

The majority of the class are not currently running crate motors. All of these guys are totally screwed. Who can they sell their stuff to even if they wanted to change to a crate? Sounds to me like there is some money changing hands between GM and UMP. I wouldn't be surprised if after everyone transitions to the crate motor GM jacks the price up or changes a part on them so they break often. Then what's everybody gonna do? I agree some things needed to be changed like going to a hard tire and shock rule but they really crippling a lot of racers with these rules.

LIKE I SAID---MAKE THE RULES BUT- GIVE THE LOW BUCK RACER TIME TO USE UP WHAT THEY HAVE !!!!!!!!!!!

USRA rules are way different. J bar is ok. 15" 2 link bars. No quick changes. No MSD boxes, WAY LIGHTER CARS!!! Not 2700# in 2 yrs!! And the CLAIMER MOTOR option is Good and permanent. In USRA the crate is an OPTION. I ran at tri city last year with my USRA sport mod CLAIMER engine leaf spring car and finished 2nd. So, why make these manditory rules that cost $ when tri city has it figured out? They will have the highest b mod car count.

For a track that pushed so hard to be UMP, which included running another nearby track out of business, I wonder what they will do now...

I think most of us have talked either on Facebook or by phone with each other and track promoters today and have heard same thing tracks are willing to let quick changes in but follow last years rules now that wasn't so hard so should be plenty of places to run current cars

Wow. You are clueless. Run out of business? No tc regulars raced at the bc go kart track. It is out of business because it was a dinky track that tried to run classes meant for a bigger track. Mostly low budget guys that didn't mind running into one another at slow speeds. Guys who wanted room and high speed went to tc. Bc should run micros and 4cyl. It would be perfect for that. bc lm's not even close to competitive at tc. Same 50 or 60 guys showed up every week, guess it wasn't enough to make $.

They may not be meant to be run there, but I think we can all agree that watching them boys bang the boards at BC is as good if not better racing than TC a lot of the time.

Hey Hittman, maybe you should grow a set and give us your real name so the 50-60 racers can contact you for a personal face to face discussion.

Real racers or fans support all tracks big or small. Bad deal for BC but best of luck to Kevin and Tammy.

RE;quick changes in B-MODS------- their use will let the racer fine tune a car as the night progresses--where as the guy with a 9 inch has a bigger (and dirty)job to fine tune his gear choice--at some tracks back in the day the racer had to call his gear choice when signing in----for a small claim the officals could pull the back cover and check the stamped no,.on the gear set-----what this will do is widen the gap between the monied racers and the rest of US----JMO

There are quite a few stupid post on here but Hitt man has won that challenge check out some of the history of drivers that came through bc over the years! And pretty much until kevin took over granite there wasn't any stability there!
