2nd Annual Modified Triple Crown Announced!

COLUMBUS, MS- The 2nd annual Twin State Triple Crown Open Wheel Modified Championships is quickly approaching. The big three race Twin State tour for the Open Wheel Modifieds is to be held May 28th, 29th, and 30th at North Alabama Speedway, Columbus Speedway, and Pine Ridge Speedway respectively. The events are expected to draw many of the regions top drivers in action for three successive nights of feature events paying $1,000 to win. There is also a $500 prize for the high point driver over the three events who will collect the cash and prestigious title of being crowned Twin State Modified Champion. The tripleheader weekend is being made possible by track promoters working together along with the support of the local drivers and teams. The events should be a win-win endeavor for all involved once again as last year’s Triple Crown featured fabulous racing at all tracks with Ethelsville, Alabama Modified racer Jason Hollis taking the title on a tie breaker as he and Randy Todd of Lexington, Tennessee were nip and tuck for the championship honors.

A quick overview of the exciting weekend includes:

Action gets underway at the always racy speedplant at North Alabama Speedway located just west of Tuscumbia, Alabama off Highway 72 for the first night of action on Friday night May 28th. The 20-lap $1,000 to win Championship event will get the action kicked off for the weekend. Promoter Jeff Greer has made many strides at the North West Alabama oval and has received many positives comments from the race fans and racing community.

The second night of action will take place at Columbus Speedway located just north of Highway 82 some 7 miles east of Columbus, Mississippi. The $1,000 to win 20-lap Championship event at Johnny Stokes’ speedplant should be a good one, as last year’s event went flag to flag without caution in one of the overall best races of the year.

Pine Ridge Speedway in Baldwyn, Mississippi (15 miles north of Tupelo) will host the final night of action on Sunday night May 30th with another $1,000 to win 20-lap main event. The Sunday night holiday weekend shows at “The Ridge” have quickly become a tradition in the area.

The action packed weekend features the three 20-lap $1,000 Championship events that have no entry fee and pay 24 places as well. Modified drivers will draw and run heats for starting position in each event, with B-Mains run if needed to determine the 24-car starting field. The weekend Trifecta could see one driver possibly win $3,500 with the posted awards that are available.
