The Greater Kansas City area's most anticipated dirt-racing event is upon us as Warrensburg's own Central Missouri Speedway is set to roll out three big nights of exciting dirt-track racing on the 'Fastest High-Banked Clay Oval in the Midwest' beginning Friday, July 2 and continuing on Saturday, July 3 and culminating on Sunday, July 4. Big money is on the line in all competing divisions this weekend for the 'Mighty' Modifieds, United Late Model Association (ULMA) Late Models, Street Stocks, and B-Modifieds. Competitors will compete for a piece of the largest-ever purse offered at the track including $5,000-to-win for the Modifieds and $1,500-to-win for late model drivers, which is the biggest purse ever offered to ULMA competitors.
Action gets underway Friday with night one inside row qualifying for the late models as the track hosts its annual late model special under the sanctioning of the ULMA. Night one for the late models includes preliminary qualifying races and a scramble event. The scramble results will determine the 12 inside row starting positions for the finale on Saturday night. The ULMA will offer double points for the Friday night scramble event. Late Models will not compete for championship track points throughout the weekend. The Ozark Mountain Midget Series makes its second-ever appearance at the track on Friday night as well with a full program of open-wheel wingless racing, paid out same night. Street Stocks will also compete during the night with a full program, non track point's event, which also serves as night one of the mini point's championship series for bonus money. Street Stocks will compete for normal track purse, paid out same night. Normal admission and pit prices are in effect for Friday's racing program. Normal start times are in effect all weekend long with pit gates opening at 4:30, grandstands at 5, hot laps at 7, and racing at 7:30.
Saturday night racing includes night two action for ULMA late models with another full program of qualifying races and the scramble to determine the 12 outside row starting positions for the $1,500-to-win race. Once the ULMA field of 24 starters is set, the green flag will drop on the 30-lap race to determine the big-money winner. All late model payout takes place on Saturday night. ULMA is offering double points for the feature event as part of its "Triple Crown Shootout." ULMA drivers will also be on hand as part of the Homes for Our Troops collection; Homes for Our Troops benefits returning war veterans who have been injured in the line of duty. The Homes for Our Troops Late Model and Modified will be on display throughout the weekend and offers a great opportunity for fans to see these high-powered machines up close and personal, bring your cameras! The 'Mighty' Modifieds begin preliminary action on Saturday with a full program of qualifying events capped off by the night one modified 20-lap scramble to determine the 12 inside row starting positions for Sunday night's main event. B-Modifieds join in on the fun with their night one racing for the mini point's championship series with a full non track points program and normal purse money paid out same night. General admission for Saturday is $15 with discounted tickets for senior citizens 65 years and up, military w/I.D., college students with school I.D., young adults age 13 to 17 years, children 6 to 12 years, 5 and under are free. Pit passes for Saturday are $30.
Sunday night marks the final night of the three-day BBQ Bowl as the modifieds return for night two action with another full program of preliminary races and the second scramble to determine the 12 outside row starters for the main event. Once the 24-car starting lineup is set, the competitors will take to the track for the $5,000-to-win, $1,000-to-start 40-lap featured race of the night. Street Stocks and B-Modifieds both return to determine the winner of their respective mini point's championship series; both classes will compete for championship track points and their normal CMS purse. All division payouts, including the $300 bonus money for the B-Modifieds and Street Stocks, will payout at the end of the night. General admission for Sunday is $20 with discounted tickets for senior citizens 65 years and up, military w/I.D., college students with school I.D., young adults age 13 to 17 years, children 6 to 12 years, 5 and under are free. Sunday night pit passes are $35. Several of the track's premiere drivers have already sent in their registration forms for this event including the Deuces Wild Dominator, Dustin Boney of Kansas City, Missouri, who has picked up four feature-event wins at the track this season. Boney will be the driver most locals will have their eye on this weekend but don't hand him the trophy just yet, since the race payout was increased to $5,000 to win, only one team has visited victory lane the past two years and that is Team Phillips out of Springfield, Missouri. Jeremy Payne took the checkers in this event in 2008 with teammate Terry Phillips also of Springfield, Missouri claiming the big money in 2009. Will Team Phillips show up again this year, time will only tell. Tommy Myer of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota has already sent in his pre-registration form along with Richard Layne, Mark Dotson, David Barker, James McMillin, Terry Schultz, Mike Higley, Tyler Schmidt, Randy Ainsworth, Jason Bodenhamer, Dennis Elliott, Jason Thompson, Paul Jones, Keith Lewandowski, Jamie Ragland, Rick Beebe, Brian Pipes, Chris Noel, Chad Staus, and Joey Lile among others.
