ABILENE, Texas (Oct. 10) – IMCA Modifieds race for $3,000 to win and a berth on the 2012 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot at Abilene Speedway’s Oct. 14-16 Ryan Bard Memorial Southern Challenge.
The Modified feature pays a minimum of $650 to start and the approximate purse for the event is $75,000. Smiley’s Racing Chassis Southern SportMods race for $2,500 to win and $250 to start. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars run for $2,000 to win and $300 to start and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks run for $1,000 to win and $150 to start.
Gates open at 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14 and racing starts at 7 p.m. On Saturday, gates open at 2 p.m. and racing begins at 6 p.m. Gates open at 11 a.m. and racing starts at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
Pit passes are $25. Grandstand admission is $12 for adults and $5 for kids 6-12, with five and under free.
The 17th annual Southern Challenge is spon¬sored by Smiley’s Racing Products. An open practice session will be held from 6-10 p.m. Thurs¬day, with complimentary beverages, barbe¬cue and music at the party to follow.
