CAMARGO, IL – In an ongoing effort to standardize sprint car rules for the 2003 season, the All Star Circuit of Champions, Inc. would like to clarify their body panel rules which are in effect starting with the season opener at Volusia Speedway Park on Feb. 6. The All Stars are joining with the World of Outlaws (WoO), Interstate Racing Association (IRA) and National Championship Racing Association (NCRA) in establishing a common set of
national sprint car rules.
The driver’s right side opening must be a minimum 10” vertical
opening at any point and a minimum 21” horizontal opening at any point. Body panels or sheet metal may not extend rearward of a perpendicular vertical line drawn from the front leading edge of the rear axle. No gurney lips or turnouts are allowed on any body panels. Bottom frame rails behind driver’s seat cannot be enclosed. Hoods may be a multiple piece design, but must
appear to be one continuous piece.
No part of the car can extend past front bumper, with bumper no more than 23” from front of front axle. No body pieces to extend beyond or underneath the front torsion tube except the hood.
The first objective of Guy Webb was to find common ground with the other racing organizations and to foster a spirit of cooperation between rival organizations (including the World of Outlaws) so that the fans could finally see the best racing this country has to offer on the same track.
The 2003 season will see 80 races in 21 states, which include
several dates on national television. This season will also include the largest carrot ever offered the traveling “All Stars” -- a $50,000 to win point fund. The All Stars will be firmly rooted in fan based racing excitement, with many new things on the way to enhance the fans’ enjoyment of America’s Series, the All Star Circuit of Champions, Inc. presented by Haulmark Race Trailers.
