Promoter Brian Thompson has signed a deal to bring the Haulmark All-Star
Circuit of Champions sprint car series to the Spoon River Speedway near
Canton, IL on Friday, July 30th. The event will be the first time that the
winged 410 sprint car group has visited the Illinois clay speedway.

Spoon River, a high banked 3/8 mile clay oval located just south of Peoria,
has hosted sprint cars on numerous occasions in its history. In recent
years, the track has played host to the annual Tommy Knowles Memorial race,
an open-competition event held each fall for the open-wheel machines.

The July 30th All-Star show will attract series regulars such as defending
series champion, Chad Kemenah and Greg Wilson, Dean Jacobs, Danny Smith
Paul May and Bill Rose.

Spoon River's close proximity to Knoxville, Iowa should attract the weekly
warriors from that facility as well.

The series also has nine sprint car drivers who have expressed intentions to
compete for Rookie of the Year honors including Eddie Lynch of nearby
Springfield.

The All-Stars will compete for a $5,000 first place prize during the July
30th show.

UMP modifieds will be the support division paying $750 to win and $75 to start

Spectator gates open at 5:00. Hot laps start at 6:30. First race is scheduled for 7:30.

Adult tickets are $20. Children 7 - 12 are $10. Kids 6 and under are free.

Spoon River Speedway is located 7.5 miles south of Banner on US Route 24.
