Justin Allgaier wins his second O’Reilly POWRi presented by Lucas Oil 30 lap Midget feature event at the “Mini Magic Mile” in the Southern Illinois Center in DuQuoin, IL. Jonathan Hendrick started on the pole with Hud Cone starting outside front row. Coming down for the green, Cone would get the jump on Hendrick with Justin Allgaier in tow behind them. Cone would ride the cushion while Hendrick chose the low line allowing Allgaier to pass on the outside and set his sights on Cone. On lap 10 Allgaier was able to dive under Cone for the lead. It was smooth sailing for Allgaier until Brett Anderson, who started 5th was able to dive under Cone for second and chase down Allgaier. Allgaier proved too tough to pass and held off Anderson with Cone, Hendrick and Tony Roney rounding out the top five.
Derek King won the 25 lap 600cc Outlaw Micro Sprint event and extended his point lead in his chase for a second consecutive POWRi championship. Jason Harms started outside front row and jumped to the lead with pole sitter Scott Plew and King giving chase. Harms would have a comfortable lead as he started coming up to lapped traffic with Plew and King battling for second. On lap 18 King would move past Plew for second and make a charge for Harms. A yellow on lap 22 would bunch the field up for a 3 lap dash. On the restart King would pass Harms on the back stretch and lead the final three laps for the win. Harms would come home second with Jake Palmisano, Tony Roney and Nic Harris rounding out the top 5.
