(May 1, 2007) – The American Sprint Car Series Mid-Atlantic Region gets one more opportunity to tune up for the rapidly-approaching Northeastern invasion of the O'Reilly American Sprint Cars on Tour national series with this Sunday night's Regional event at Susquehanna Speedway Park in Newberrytown, PA.
Sunday's card marks the series third championship points event, with the next events slated in conjunction with the National Tour at Black Rock Speedway in Dundee, NY on May 18-19, Susquehanna Speedway Park on May 24 and Virginia Motor Speedway on May 25-26.
And while Pennsylvania's Pat Cannon and Florida's Kenny Adams have split victory honors in the opening two championship points events, it is Montrose, NY, racer Justin Barger that has climbed atop the early ASCS Mid-Atlantic Region point charts.
Barger ran second to Adams in Saturday's event at Virginia Motor Speedway after finishing seventh in the opener at Susquehanna Speedway Park six nights earlier.
Barger holds a narrow ten-point lead over past ASCS Patriots champion George Suprick, with Tim Hogue and Geoff Quackenbush tied for third just eight more points back. Youngster Coleman Gulick rounds out the current top five in ASCS Mid-Atlantic Region points.
Sunday evening's heat race action for the ASCS Mid-Atlantic Region at Susquehanna Speedway Park is set to get under way at 6:00 p.m.

The 2007 season marks the 16th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing for the American Sprint Car Series. With a dozen different Regions in addition to the O'Reilly American Sprint Cars on Tour National series, ASCS will sanction approximately 240 nights of racing at more than 100 different race tracks throughout at least 30 different states and Canada.
