Bell wins birthday bash at Doe Run Raceway

DOE RUN, MO--(August 11, 2006) Megan Bell cruised to victory in the Bob's Birthday Bash $500 to win mini stock race this past Friday night.

The former kart racer and rookie mini stock driver started on the second row inside after a coin toss determined there would be an inverted start. Using this to her advantage, Bell quickly assumed the lead and making no mistakes despite pressure from all sides, grabbed her first feature win in the class. Points leader Shannon Burch had a strong run, finishing second to Bell after starting 13th, Chris Pettus third, CJ Wright fourth and Marty Boyer fifth.

Burch won the first heat, Wright second and Dave Wofford third. Tod Brinley won the second heat, Bill Nickelson second and Rob Denny third.

The Stock Kart class also put on quite a show for the fans, with good close racing all around. At the line it was Scottie Gretzmacher over Maura Snowdell for the win, Andrew Cash third, Jesse Wright fourth and Damien Atchley fifth.

Snowdell carried the checkers in the first heat, Gretzmacher second and Atchley third. Cash won the second heat, Wright second and Carson Heady third.

In the Dwarf car class, points leader Chris Hayes continued his march to the championship by winning both his heat race and the feature event. Billy Joe Beard finished second to Hayes in the main, Wayne Arnold third, Jim Daley fourth and Aaron Bell fifth.

Brad Paquet won the first heat, Scott Bell second and Beard third. Matt Dotson finished second behind Hayes in the second heat, Vince Conway third.

Casey Barnhouse came out on top in the 20 lap 600cc Multi feature event. Gavin Galbraith finished second, Mark Shirshekan third, Tom Sydnor fourth and Keaton Dobbs fifth.

Barnhouse won the heat race, Andy Malpocker second and Galbriath third.

Gary Price put the #188 hornet car in victory lane in the feature event for the class. Dave Racer finished second, Jordy Schmidt third and Matt Greif fourth.

Racing will resume Friday, August 18th with a special appearance by the Vintage Cars. Other classes participating will be the 600cc Multi, Mini Stock, Stock Karts, Hornets and Dwarf cars.
