Belleville, Il - This year marks the 55th anniversary of racing at the legendary Belle-Clair Speedway. “The place is a great ol’ race track,” said Stan Schanter. On April 18, Belle-Clair will stop and salute some of the great racers who have over the years have competed at the famed Belleville race track. “We would like to recognize all the former drivers,” said Schanter. Track officials would especially like to honor all drivers who raced before 1970 at the Belle-Clair Speedway. “We want to invite those drivers to come that night and be honored. We will offer these drivers free pit passes,” said Schanter. Schanter is working out the final details of the event, but he is hoping to have some old time coupes on hand for the fans to see. He also asked that the former drivers who plan on participating to call him prior to the event. “This will be a really special event, one that the fans will really enjoy,” said Schanter.
