Memorial Day weekend is the first of three summer holiday Modified special events at Central Missouri Speedway for the 2010 race season. The action kicks off on Friday, May 28 with the ‘Mighty’ Modifieds running qualifying heat races with consolation features and finishing up with a 20 lap modified scramble to determine the 12 inside-row starting positions for the Saturday night special event . The Street Stocks are also featured on Friday evening with a $1500-to-win special race along with the inaugural appearance of the Ozark Mountain Midget Series on the fastest high-banked clay oval in the Midwest.

On Saturday, May 29, the "Mighty Modifieds' grab the headline with a $3,000-to-win, $250 to start, special feature, along with the ULMA Late Models and B-Modifieds. The remaining 12 outside row starting positions through another scramble on Saturday evening will fill out the 24 car starting field. Local modified drivers registered to race up to press release time were: Dustin Boney, Jim Moody, Dean Wille, Rick Beebe, Aaron Marrant, Jamie Ragland, Jason Thompson, Jake Richards, Joey Lile and Bubba Harvey.

In the CMS modified division, both Thompson and Boney recently visited the Waterloo Storage Products Victory Lane with their first feature wins this season. The Modified specials always bring out the best drivers from throughout the Missouri, Kansas and the Mid-West area along with race fans making the drive to Warrensburg to watch the exciting races.

If last week was any indication of the level of competition for a Street Stock victory lane celebration, then this Friday evening will one you don’t want to miss. Independence driver, Brian Johnson continues to lead the field with two feature wins this year. Johnson and Warrensburg’s veteran driver, John Brooks had a tight battle up until the end of the feature last weekend. Chad Eickleberry, Michael Mullins, Terry Moss, Brian Cox, Herb and Don Danner along with Johnson and others are registered to compete for the $1500-to-win prize. Will any of the modified drivers pick up a ride for this race? Modified driver, Terry Schultz from Sedalia is a past winner so we’ll see who shows up this year to compete for the big prize.
