BONNE TERRE, Mo. -- (June 24, 2006) It simply was a very special night in the recent history of Big River Sand Drags. IT was a night where the world's most famous monster truck still proved it can put huge smiles on little faces while at the same time thrilling the most laid-back race fan.
Bigfoot Off Road & Performance Center Night of Potosi at Big River Sand Drags proved to be a tremendous success, not just because of the appearance of Bigfoot and some of his friends, but because of the huge crowd and the tremendous competiton. It's so very easy to see how the competitiors at the track feed off of a big crowd. They love to put on a good show for the bigger audiences and Saturday night was no exception. In fact, Derek Palazzolo of Arnold (on his Super Pro ATV) and John Dreher of Wentzville (in Competition Eliminator) both posted perfect lights, a feat rarely achieved at BRSD.
Here's a recap of the racing results:
In Junior ATV, Whitney Dee of Leadwood won both top eliminator and first place (and also posted best reaction time of .411) while Blake Harris of Farmington on his first race of the season captured second place.
In ATV-1, Kyle Harmon of St. Louis was the first place winner while Jordan Merseal of Park Hills finished second and won the top eliminator race.
In Pro ATV, Jim Glatczak of Potosi was first, but second place winner Jimmy "Superfly" Farris of Potosi won the top eliminator race.
In Super Pro ATV, Tim Brown of Bonne Terre captured first place, with second place winner Josh Koch of DeSoto taking top eliminator.
In Vehicle ET, Gladys Edwards of Bonne Terre was first, but Ronnie Maples of Farmington continued his impressive early showing by taking second place and winning the top eliminator race.
In Competition Eliminator, William Sutton of DesArc won first place with John Dreher of Wentzville taking second and then winning the top eliminator race over Sutton after posting the perfect (.400) light.
In Stock Buggy, Cody Sellers of Arnold won both first place and top eliminator while Adam Smith of Fredericktown captured second place.
In Open 4x4, Terry Wies of Wentzville was the first place winner while David Mallow of Bonne Terre was second.
There will be another huge race at Big River Sand Drags this Saturday night (July 1st) with the annual Summer Sizzler. A large field of both Open 4x4s and Competition Eliminator vehicles are expected to be a part of what is traditionally one of the biggest shows of the season.
