Inside Line Promotions - GREENVILLE, Texas (June 29, 2014) - John Binz will likely be out of racing for a while.
After scoring four top fives in his first six races this season, Binz sustained engine damage leading his heat race at Superbowl Speedway last Saturday.
"When we got off turn two it loaded real bad and then it started blowing up," he said. "It started smoking real bad. I ran another lap to make sure it wasn't a line. I started getting passed and pulled in."
Binz led the first two laps of the heat race before pulling into the infield just before the midpoint of the race. The team found a hole in the block of the engine, which sidelined him for the remainder of the event.
"I think I would have had a chance to win the heat race and we would have been a top-five car in the feature," he said. "I don't know when I'll race again. It sucks to be that fast and have the motor break and not have the finances to put one back together. It's a pretty expensive deal."
Binz is unsure when he will be able to return to competition.
