Inside Line Promotions - FORNEY, Texas (June 24, 2013) - With an incomplete race car sitting in the shop, it's been an arduous last couple of weeks for John Binz.
That should end this week when he gets his chassis back before the Texas Summer Nationals, which is a $1,000-to-win EMSA mini sprint doubleheader at Kennedale Speedway Park in Kennedale, Texas. On Friday, Binz will compete on the eighth-mile oval in nonwing competition and on Saturday he will be on the quarter-mile track in winged action.
"It has been difficult to be out of the seat since my crash a couple of weeks ago, so I'm really looking forward to getting back to the track this weekend," he said. "Everything is sitting there ready to go. Once I get the chassis back, it'll only take a day to put together.
"Also, I had one of my mom's friends, Susan, help out and write me a check, so that was the icing on the cake. It was a huge help."
Binz has been out of competition for the past three weeks after a nasty crash at Kennedale Speedway Park on May 31. While the track he returns to this weekend is where he destroyed a car the last time out, it's also where he has recorded his career-best finish in winged and nonwing action - both third.
"We've been fast, just having the luck to be there at the end is what we need," he said. "Hopefully we can return with the speed and catch a couple of breaks to put together a solid weekend."
