Inside Line Promotions - FORNEY, Texas (Sept. 9, 2013) - John Binz is on his way back to Texas after making a big change.

Binz drove to Missouri to swap race cars with another driver, giving up his mini sprint operation for a 305 sprint car.

"It was pretty much my whole deal minus the seat," he said. "He gave me everything to build a complete roller. It's a brand new Triple X. The motor would be the biggest thing missing and then a couple of small parts. It'll be something I'm way more familiar with than the mini sprint deal."

Binz notched six top fives and 12 top-10 finishes in 25 mini sprint races this season, but was unsure of what the future held for the division in Texas next season. That, along with the familiarity of sprint cars, helped him make the decision.

"I don't think there will be as much mini sprint racing around here next year," he said. "When you look at the cost difference between racing a 305 and a mini sprint, the cost isn't much different and the payout is better for 305s."

Binz said he likely won't be able to compete in the 305 this season and is eyeing the beginning of next season to start fresh.

"It'd be nice to have something together to run a couple of races this year, but that'd be pretty tight to get everything done and everything ready to go," he said. "My plan is to be ready by the beginning of next year. I'll just probably hit races at RPM Speedway, which is right down the road. The plan is right now to run about 20 races next year. We'll see if we can get a couple of sponsors on board to run some more."

Binz is also hopeful to compete in a couple of mini sprint races this season for other car owners.
