This was an unsanctioned race.
Here are some photos from Florence...There is a big crash as well in the photos, don't know who they were but none were injured:

Heat one--1.s9-Dan Shlieper,2.18-Shannon Babb,3.21-Billy Moyer,4.c5-Troy Cruse,5.75-Bart Hartman,6.111-Randy Boggs.--Thomas Ware smacked the wall during the heat.
Heat Two--1.19-Davey Johnson,2.1*-Chub Frank,3.28-Jimmy Mars,4.1-Steve Francis,5.00-Freddie Smith,6.7-Brandon Green.John Mason and Clayton Christianberry were also in the heat.
Heat Three--1.0-Scott Bloomquist,2.55-Jeep Van Wormer,3.68-Tim Hitt,4.00-Randy Korte,5.99-Rick Briggs,6.81-Mark Barber.Matt Miller finished well back.
Heat Four--1.77-Barry Bargdon,2.17m-Dale McDowell,3.1-Aaron Scott,4.12-Rick Aukland,5.3-Steve Smith,6.97-David Powers.This was the heat with the Scott James incident(see other posts).
