ROLAND, Iowa (April 22) – Bob Harris Enterprises will have another role backing IMCA Modified and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod drivers.
Designated top 10 finishers at 30 Modified specials and at a dozen SportMod specials each receive two free shock rebuilds. A drawing will be held after the 2011 point season is complete to award Race Tech Info Dirt Chassis School packages to a driver in each division.
“This partnership with IMCA supports both our shock and education programs. It’s my opportunity to give something back to drivers,” explained company president Bob Harris. “My heart has always been geared toward the IMCA Modified, and the SportMod is a lot like what the original Modified was.”
Certificates for the shock rebuilds will be mailed the week after each special is held. Race Tech Info seminar certificates go in the mail in October.
Harris raced a late model from 1978-1980. The founder of Harris Auto Racing, he built his first Modified in 1983 with the encouragement of IMCA Director of Competition Ron Efkamp.
“We were one of the very first Modified chassis builders and we worked very closely with IMCA owner Keith Knaack and Kathy Root way back when. I genuinely treasure having been around at the beginning to see this division grow,” Harris said. “I believe in IMCA and the IMCA rules and I’ve supported them from the beginning. I can’t say enough about IMCA and their staff. The run a great program.”
He started Bob Harris Enterprises in 2001. The business moved to Roland, Iowa, in 2007 and is an authorized Afco shock rebuild center.
Information about the Race Tech Info chassis schools, setup DVDs and shock rebuilds is available by calling 515 231-1748 and at the www.bobharrisent.com website.
Never out of contact with IMCA regulars, Harris has promoted the Harris Clash for Modifieds since 1992. Northern SportMods became part of the special program in 2006.
"We have had, and continue to have a long-standing association with Bob Harris at a variety of levels and this partnership adds another layer to that relationship,” said IMCA Marketing Director Kevin Yoder. “Bob has always been great to work with as a chassis builder, promoter and now an IMCA sponsor once again and the racers will appreciate his extensive knowledge of open wheel racing."
