Brad Neat Nabs O'Reilly NARA Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series' 5th Annual June Jam at Bluegrass Speedway

BARDSTOWN, KY - The O'Reilly NARA Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series would visit Bluegrass Speedway in Bardstown, KY on Saturday night and Brad Neat of Dunnville, KY would lead all 30 laps in scoring the $3,000 to win 5th Annual June Jam. Josh Lucas of Bardstown, KY would pick up the Modified feature win, while Robbie Settles of Bardstown, KY would score the Street Stock feature victory.

The original start to the 30 lap, $3,000 to win O'Reilly A-Main June Jam would be called back when the start cone was hit and pulled out onto the racing surface. With the next attempted start, Brad Neat would take the lead, with Jimmy Owens and Dustin Neat side by side for second, Tim Tungate fourth, and Johnny Wheeler fifth. Lap 2 would see the next caution as Tungate had a right front lower control break and cause his mount to contact the wall in turn one, with Wheeler looping his mount at the same time in turn one and collecting teammate Scotty Earl in the process. Tungate and Earl would be finished for the evening.

The first attempted restart would not score a full lap as Bryan Barber, Bobby Wolter, Jr., and Anthony Ferguson would tangle in turn three. Barber would spin his mount again in turn two on the next attempted restart. This Delaware double-file restart would finally be a go and Brad Neat would lead brother Dustin Neat, with Jimmy Owens, Whitney McQueary, and Chris Combs in pursuit. McQueary would drive under Owens for third on lap 3 in turn two, only to have Owens take the spot right back in the same corner one trip later. As the front four would pull away a bit, a battle for fifth would take shape as Chris Combs and Justin Rattliff duel wheel to wheel for the next four circuits, with the duo exchanging slide-jobs on lap 10, with Combs coming out with the spot.

The front three of Brad Neat, Dustin Neat, and Owens would pull away from McQueary at this point, as the duo of Combs and Rattliff would catch McQueary on lap 11 and the trio would race three-wide for the fourth position on laps 12 and 13 until the caution would wave as this trio would make some contact with each other and McQueary would go spinning into the infield area to draw the yellow bunting. A voided restart for debris on lap 14 would again be voided on the next attempt as Dustin Neat would spin in turn one and the duo of Rattliff and Wheeler would get involved in the incident, with Dustin Neat and Rattliff having their nights ended.

After finally getting back underway, the Delaware double file restart would jumble the running order behind Brad Neat, as Chris Combs would now be second by lap 17, with Aaron Hatton third, Jimmy Owens fourth, and Jason Keltner and Mike Jewell mixing it up for fifth. Lap 20 would see business pick up as Keltner and Jewell would both pressure Owens for the four slot, with Keltner finally taking the position on lap 22. The lead trio of Brad Neat, Combs, and Hatton would begin to stretch their advantage on the pack at this point, as all three began to pick through some slower traffic at the back of the field. Owens and Jewell would duel for fifth and Jewell would sneak by Owens for the spot as the field received the five laps to go signal.

Brad Neat would continue his flawless performance around the top side of the 1/2 mile clay oval and would see the checkered flag first in the Neat Racing Inc. owned Neat's Service Center/NWN Distributing/Tarter Gate/Stephens Pipe and Steel/Tarter and Roberts Insurance sponsored #41 C.J. Rayburn Race Cars Monte Carlo, powered by a Cornett Race Engine. Combs would hold off Hatton's charges to claim the runner-up position, with Keltner and 16th starting Jewell rounding out the top five. Completing the top ten Owens, Mike Watson, 15th starting Bobby Wolter, Jr., 22nd starting Bryant Woodcock, and 24th starting Joey Daniel.

Twenty-four entries would see Dustin Neat grab the Racing Optics fast time award at 15.602 seconds. The Mason Racin' heat race wins went to Wheeler and Brad Neat, while Owens won the Arizona Sport Shirts heat.

The next event for the O'Reilly NARA Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series presented by Arizona Sport Shirts will be the 8th Annual Lee Fleetwood Memorial sponsored by Bob Poynter Ford at the Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, IN on Saturday, June 24th.
