(MUSCATINE, IOWA) Brian Birkhofer and his #15b Dirt Late Model team picked up their second win of the 2010 racing season last Saturday night, June 19 at the renowned Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wisconsin! Brian timed in second fastest in his group for the UMP DIRTcar Summer Nationals program and later won his competitive heat race. After starting from the outside of the front row in the 40-lap 'Masters' feature event, Brian ran second behind leader Will Vaught throughout the race. However, Vaught's #1 entry came up light at the scales in post-race inspection and Brian was awarded the $10,000 victory. He wound up taking home the hardware over Brian Shirley, Ryan Unzicker, Jason Feger, and Matt Miller!

On Friday evening, the Cedar Lake Speedway played host to a $5,000 to win UMP DIRTcar Summer Nationals showdown to kick-off the two-day 'Masters' weekend. Brian ran fifth in heat race action, but later won the B-Main to gain access into the 40-lap main event. After starting seventeenth on the grid in the A-Main, the Muscatine, Iowa native rolled past eleven competitors en route to a stellar sixth place effort. Complete results from the doubleheader at CLS can be found online at www.dirtcar.com.

"That wasn't the way I wanted to win on Saturday night, but I guess we will take it," commented Birkhofer this week. "Will (Vaught) had the fastest racecar and won the race as far as I am concerned, I just got to bring home the $10,000 paycheck though. We got our car better and better throughout the weekend, so I am encouraged by that. Hopefully, we will have something for those guys at Lernerville this weekend!"

Up next for the Birkhofer Racing team will be the 4th Annual 'Firecracker 100' weekend at the Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pennsylvania! The new and improved format for the 'Firecracker 100' will start tonight, June 24 with a $6,000 to win program. Another $6,000 to win show will be held at the Pittsburgh area venue on Friday night, while the $30,000 to win 'Firecracker 100' will headline the huge weekend on Saturday evening, June 26. The World of Outlaws Late Model Series will sanction all three nights of racing action at Lernerville. Brian claimed the win in this new crown jewel event back in 2008. Additional information concerning the 'Firecracker 100' can be found online at www.worldofoutlaws.com.
