Inside Line Promotions - STOCKTON, Calif. (March 19, 2019) - It's no question that March has been a frustrating month for Brian Brown, who has been racing on the West Coast with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series.

Last weekend wasn't smooth as the team struggled to find speed on a pair of bumpy bullrings.

"It's been a rough few nights to say the least," Brown said. "It really starts with qualifying. We've always been good qualifiers and for whatever reason we haven't been qualifying well the last few nights as we normally have. When you unload slow you can never get back ahead."

Brown kicked off the Silver Dollar Shootout last Friday at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, Calif., by qualifying 14th quickest in his group. An eighth-place finish in a heat race and an 11th-place result in the Last Chance Showdown wrapped up the night.

"We weren't that great right off the trailer," he said. "We were tight in Tulare (the previous weekend) and we drug some of our problems with us and overcorrected in Chico. We didn't get qualified well and just couldn't make anything happen."

The weekend concluded on Saturday at Stockton Dirt Track during the FVP Platinum Battery Showdown. Brown timed in 19th quickest in qualifying. A fifth-place run in a heat race locked him into the main event. However, he pulled off the track early because of the conditions and was credited with a 25th-place finish.

"We wiped the slate clean and did qualify a little better," he said. "We made it through the heat and we were making progress. The way the track conditions were (in the main event) we were asking for trouble and to tear something up. The risk wasn't worth it so we pulled in.

"It's not what we hoped for, but it's a long season. There's such highs and lows in a season you have to stay even keeled. As an owner I wouldn't expect to have three or four bad nights in a row, but it isn't for a lack of effort."

On a positive note Brown participated in a successful FVP meet and greet prior to Saturday's race.

"It was a good night as far as the FVP event," he said. "That one of our best turnouts. I think we had 200 people there. The World of Outlaws do a great job of hosting. It was great to meet with some of the FVP customers and I'm thankful for them choosing FVP."
