Inside Line Promotions - PORT ROYAL, Pa. (Oct. 29, 2018) - Brian Brown set a new track record for the second time in the last five races before he scored a top-10 finish on Sunday during the Tuscarora 50 at Port Royal Speedway.

"Hats off to Port Royal and the World of Outlaws for even giving it a shot and running on Sunday," he said. "Most tracks would have cancelled on Thursday with the conditions they were dealt. We were glad they were able to have the race. It turned out to be an awesome day.

"We were quickest hot lapping. Going out as late as we did in qualifying, to get the track record was awesome. Our engines with Charlie Garrett and our cars with Maxim and our wings with Vortex and our shocks with FK and our Weld Wheels that get you around the track, the driver is just steering it on a fast track like that. They call it horsepower for a reason and we have the best engine builder in the country. The conditions were perfect. That (record) could stand a while."

However, Brown's quick time during qualifying lined him up fourth in a World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series heat race.

"We've been on the other side of the coin where we didn't try to get quick time and it bit us in the butt like at the Kings Royal this year," he said. "Our goal was to set quick time and that's what we did. It does make it a tougher format for you because you have to start fourth in the heat. We got to third and got a decent starting spot in the A Main."

Brown advanced a position to finish third in a heat race, which lined him up on the outside of the seventh row for the 50-lap main event.

"I had a pretty good car," he said. "I was up to as high as sixth with five laps to go. I got a little ancy and tried to drive harder and lost three spots. I was disappointed with that because I felt like we had a fifth or sixth-place car."

Brown's ninth-place result was his 38th top 10 of the season. He will wrap up the year this Thursday through Saturday at The Dirt Track at Charlotte in Concord, N.C., during the World of Outlaws World Finals with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series.

"We're looking to get to Charlotte, where we won our first Outlaws race," he said. "I think we've been in contention to win one of the nights every year we've been there. Hopefully we can get qualified well and have a strong performance. We want to set the tone for a good winter."

Brown has posted a podium during the event in four of the last six years, including a win in 2014, runner-up results in 2012 and 2013, and a third-place outing last season.
