Farmington, MO (May 8) -- A J Bruns, Lincoln, IL came out with guns blazing as he captures his first win of the season in Sprint Division action. Brian Richards, Pacific, MO takes the honors in the B – Modified Division. Billy Smith captures his second win in the A – Modified Division and Chris Boyd, Park Hills, MO takes his second in the Pure Street Division.

With temperature hovering in the 40 degree range, action as non-stop and heated. Member of Bulk Tank Service and Greenlee Chiropractic were on hand for the racing this Saturday, and they were not disappointed.

The Sprint Division as the outside row vault to the front on lap 2. Joey Boyd, Farmington, MO would lead the charge off turn four on lap1, only to have Tim Montgomery, Fredericktown, MO and A J Bruns get around and the chase begin.. Montgomery and Bruns would swap the lead several times with each taking a different approach to the track. In the closing stages of the event Jimmy Bridgeman, Farmington, MO did the tumble and rolled his car on the back straight and collecting Keith Burch, Farmington, MO in the process. Both drivers walked away from the incident, however neither could continue competition. The event was also slowed by three other cautions for minor problems. Bruns finished ahead of runner-up Montgomery, third place goes to opening night winner Steve Short, Jimmy Hurley brings home fourth pace honors and Joey Montgomery takes fifth after starting in the 17th starting spot.

Pacific, Missouri’s Brian Richards made his first showing of the 2010 season at St Francois County Raceway a good one. Using his pole position starting spot as an advantage, Richards had a short battle with Michael Savage for the top slot. Richards is not a stranger to the Winners Circle as he won here last season in the exhibition events for the B-Mods. Michael Savage came home with a very nice second place finish. Savage had more than a hand full opening night with a very ill handling car. He made the right adjustments and they paid off. Opening Night Winner Kenny Harris battled to a third place finish. Harris broke his car in his heat and made the necessary repairs for the feature. Another of the Pure Street drivers moving up to this class, Eddie Gross got his car to run this week and made a great fourth place run. Shane Blair stepped out of his machine for the feature event. Chris Boyd, who won the Pure Street Division, got in the seat and started in the back, fifteenth position, drove through the field and takes fifth place laurels.

Billy Smith drove to the front of the A-Modified division feature and never looked back. A dominating performance would be an understatement. Surviving three attempts to get the race moving on after one lap, three different incidents of spinning cars. Once restarted on officially on lap 2, Smith led the remainder of the distance, 14 laps, with no problem. The best race in the event was from second thru fifth. Jeremy Greenwalt, Timmy Hill, Jeff Asher, and Brent Thompson gave the fans something to cheer about. These five were locked in the battle so tight any mistake could have been bad. The drivers would finish in that order. Smith also earned his first “hat trick” of the season by also winning his heat and the dash.

Pure Streets saw another superb performance from Chris Boyd on his second victory of the season. Jimmy Farris brought his new car out for its first run and was impressive. He finished in the runner-up position after doing battle with Heat race winner “Chargin” Charlie Savage. Savage hangs on for third. Followed by Kasey Nations takes fourth and Dusty Holman rounds out the top five.

Action will continue next Saturday Night with the regular divisions in competition. Also on the card for next week, vintage cars. These are older style machines with a modern look. Styles range from 30’s models and forward. Make plans to attend. Grandstand and Pit gates open at 4:00. First Race schedule to start at 7:00. Admission to the grandstand is $10 for adults.
