Another six-division program of Friday night racing is on tap this week at PIR. It will be Budweiser Night with prizes and surprises for fans in the grandstands from Golden Eagle Distributing of Paducah.

Heats and features are scheduled for five UMP divisions along with the Vintage Racers. Current point leaders Dylan Thompson (Late Model), Todd Miller (Modified), Tait Davenport (Crate Late Model), Poncho Elder (Street Stock), and Jeffrey Bailey (Warrior) will attempt to maintain their advantages. Interestingly, all season leaders are from Paducah, except Bailey who hails from Calvert City.

Also on Friday, PIR and Chevrolet again will be registering fans to win a 2008 Silverado Pick Up Truck. Five lucky fans will be randomly selected for the Grand Prize Give Away, which will be conducted at the track during the September 5 event. Qualifiers at the August 1 event were:
• Leah Biewer, Carbondale, IL
• Mark Martin, Benton
• Cathy Nalley, Boaz
All qualifiers will be notified by mail.

The ticket office and grandstand gates will open at 4 PM Friday. Adult grandstand admission is $10, children 12 and under are admitted free. The pit gate will open at 4 PM. Pit passes are $25, minor releases are required.

The third in the NASCAR Night of Stars series will be held Thursday, August 21 with special guest Tony Stewart, two-time Cup Champion and one of the owners of PIR. The race program will include a UMP/MARS sanctioned Late Model feature paying $1500 to the winner. A Midwest Motorsports Classic, the “USA World 50”, is scheduled for Friday, August 22 with the UMP/MARS Late Model feature paying $5000 to win.

NASCAR Stars Dale Earnhardt, Jr, Ken Schrader, and Promoter Bob Sargent purchased Paducah International Raceway in November of 2005. Two-time NASCAR Champion Tony Stewart joined the trio of co-owners as a partner in September of 2006. In 2008 the 3/8th mile high-banked oval hosts several high profile events including three NASCAR Nights of Stars, the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars, the USA World 50, and the Tri-Track Challenge. PIR races every Friday night and is located off Interstate 24 at exit 11 in Paducah, Kentucky. For more information call the PIR hotline at (270) 448-4PIR or the track at (270) 898-SHOW (7469).
