DOE RUN, MO-- (August 10, 2007) Each year Doe Run Raceway celebrates the birthday of promoter/owner Bob Johnson with a special show for the Mini Stock class and this year was no exception. In addition to the special Mini Stock Race, the Chicken Man was on hand to keep the crowd entertained, goodie bags for the kids were handed out, bicycles were given away and lawn mower racing was on the schedule.
In racing action, Shannon Burch won the Mini Stock Birthday Bash Feature event. Kyle Cox finished second with Denver Counts third.
In the 305 Sprint division, Dustin Adams crossed the stripe first in the A-Main. Gavin Galbraith finished second , points leader Josh Worrell third, Jason Hunt fourth and Kermit Schrum Jr. fifth. Galbraith won the heat race, Adams second and Worrell third.
In the 600cc Multi class, Jarrett Cathey carried the checkered flag two times, winning the first heat race and the feature event. Andy Malpocker crossed the line behind Cathey in the A-Main, Mark Gass third, Casey Barnhouse fourth and Jeff Wurst fifth.
Barnhouse was runner up to Cathey in the first heat, Lynda Blanke third. Gass won the second heat, Malpocker second and Chris Elliott third.
Joey Gilliam carried the checkers twice in the hornet class, winning both the heat race and the feature. Matt Greif finished second in both events, Scott Price third.
Scottie Gretzmacher won twice in the Stock Kart class. Lee Stuppy finished second behind Gretzmacher in the main event, Andrew Cash third, Travis Almon fourth and Jesse Wright fifth. Wright crossed the line behind Gretzmacher in the heat, Stuppy third.
Alex Harris won the Semi Modified Mower main event, Terry Thompson second, Brian Hackworth third, Kendall Scoggins fourth and Jimmy Ketcherside fifth. Heat races were won by Harris and Hackworth.
John Pettus won the Modified mower main event, Jeff Kaey second, Kaylon McEntire third, Mason Henson fourth and Bam Bam McEntire fifth. Kaey won the heat race.
Racing will resume Friday, August 17th with all classes participating. The Vintage cars will also be on hand for their monthly visit to the facility.
