Mark Burgtorf, Justin Reed, Chris Wibbell and Larry Powell all took feature event wins at Quincy Raceways on Sunday, May 31 during Bank of Quincy Night at the Races.

Burgtorf and Jason Frankel put on the show in the Budweiser IMCA Late Model main event trading the lead numerous times during the early stages of the thirty lapper. Burgtorf gained the lead for the final time on the seventh lap and held Frankel at bay the rest of the distance to take his third points win of the year. Frankel held on to the second spot but fast closing Denny Woodworth rallied to third on the final lap followed by Joey Gower in fourth and Lonnie Bailey in fifth. Burgtorf and Nick Ingalls were the heat race winners with Bailey taking home the hardware in the Summy Tire and Auto Center Trophy Dash Series.

The twenty car Miller Lite UMP Modified feature event was a battle royal throughout the twenty five lap distance. Jared Schlipman and Wyatt Lantz put on quite a show over the first eleven laps until Stephen DeLonjay worked his way past Lantz for the second spot. DeLonjay put the pressure on Schlipman until finally getting passing Schlipman on lap twenty two. DeLonjay then traded the lead with Justin Reed each lap until Reed slipped past for the win at the checkered flag by a mere .087 of a second. Schlipman held on to third with Donovan Lodge in fourth and David Wietholder coming from the back of the field for fifth. Lantz, DeLonjay and Schlipman were the heat race winners with Tony Dunker grabbing the win in the Advance Trading Trophy Dash Series.

The Triple R Performance Engines IMCA Stock Cars also provided a great show with a battle for the lead raging throughout the twenty laps. The 04 cars of Aaron Brocksieck and Steve Steinkuhler battled through the first nine laps until Jerry Jansen decided to join in the fun by taking the lead on the tenth lap. Jansen held the top spot for two more circuits but had to give way to Chris Wibbell on the thirteenth lap then held Jansen in the second spot until the final two laps when Brocksieck gave it one more try to get the lead. Wibbell maintained the lead until the checkered flag fell on the twentieth lap followed by Brocksieck in second, Jansen in third, Michael Larsen in fourth and Andrew Griffin in fifth. Sarah Woodhurst and Jansen scored the heat race victories.

The Tim’s Machine Shop Hobby Stock main event was just a good as all the others Sunday night. Fourteen year old rookie Tanner Klingele looked good as he led the first five circuits but veteran Larry Powell had other ideas as he took over the lead on the sixth circuit. Powell then kept a hungry pack behind him with Matt Burgtorf settling for the second spot with James Leffew in third, Travis Booher in fourth and Steve Carlin in fifth. Justin Bartz and Booher were the heat race winners.

Coming up this next Sunday, June 7 at Quincy Raceways will be another first for the Broadway Bullring with the initial appearance of the POWRi National Midget Series during Miller Beer/Mississippi Belle Distributing Night at the Races.. According to Series President Kenny Brown, a large field of the “Mighty Midgets” with 30 to 40 cars possibly being in the field can be expected.
