Burns gets first feature win at Doe Run Raceway

DOE RUN, MO--(August 4, 2006) In a daring late race pass, Garrett Burns earned his first stock kart feature win this past Friday night at Doe Run Raceway. Scottie Gretzmacher looked to be well on his way to another victory, until becoming hung up behind lapped traffic, enabling Burns to make the pass. Gretzmacher had to settle for second, Andrew Cash third, Lee Stuppy fourth and Maggie Almon fifth. Burns won the first heat, Jesse Wright second and Almon third. Gretzmacher won the second heat followed by Cash and Damien Atchley.

Vince Conway sailed to victory in the Dwarf car class. Chris Hayes finished second to Conway, Brad Paquet third, Billy Joe Beard fourth and Wayne Arnold fifth. Conway won the first heat, Hayes second and Jim Daley third. Beard won the second heat, Matt Dotson second and Paquet third.

Andy Malpocker crossed the stripe first in the 600cc Multi feature. Rounding out the top five were Casey Barnhouse, Lucas Sprague, Mark Shirshekan and Lynda Blanke. Sprague won the first heat, Shirshekan second and Malpocker third. Barnhouse won the second heat, Joe B. Miller second and Lynda Blanke third.

In the Mini Stock class, Shannon Burch added another two wins to his list for the season, winning both his heat race and the feature. Ray Statler finished second to Burch in the A-Main, Bill Nickelson third, Ron Moser fourth and Steve Wright fifth. CJ Wright won the first heat, Ronnie Moser second and Tod Brinley third. Bill Nickelson finished in the runner up spot behind Burch in the second heat, Don Hahs third.

Scott Price won the feature event in the new Hornet class, Butch Graham second and Matt Greif third. Greif won the heat race followed by Price and Dave Racer.

Racing will resume Friday, August 11th with Bob's Birthday Bash $350 to win Mini Stock show. Other classes participating will be the 600cc multi, hornets, stock karts and dwarf cars.
