C.A.R.S Late Models to run weekly at Mt.Vernon in '06
Mt.Vernon Raceway will add the Crate American Racing Series sanctioned Crate Late Models to its weekly program in 2006! C.A.R.S. is currently finalizing negotiations with more area tracks with full details to be announced in the very near future.
CARS has been formed to promote weekly racing in crate motored racecars. We are not attempting to organize a traveling series. There are already other series doing that, and at this point, we believe focusing on establishing a weekly series will increase the pool of racers in these types of cars. With more teams to draw from, the weekly tracks, as well as the touring series should both be enhanced.
These cars must be an affordable alternative for both racers and promoters. The price of the crate motors (GM Performance 602 & 604 at this time) have been well documented as costing between $3000 - $5000, as compared to open motors which cost roughly $30,000 on average.
Did I mention CARS will have a minimum national points fund of $10,000 to win cash? In addition to the cash the champion will recieve a bare chassis or $3300 towards a rolling chassis from C.J. Rayburn Race Cars, a Bert Ball Spline Transmission & more.
There will be no entry fee per event. Once you buy your membership, the only further cost will be whatever the track charges for a pit pass. Just that simple. Membership fees are $65 for Late Models.
The point system we will be using will award consistency at a racer's home track, but will still offer an opportunity for travel if a team wishes to.
Weekly sanction fees for the tracks are only $75 per night for the C.A.R.S. Late Models.
