Inside Line Promotions - ATTICA, Ohio (Aug. 28, 2018) - Damage to his car from a brush with the wall in a heat race forced Shane Call to miss his first feature race last Friday night at Attica Raceway Park.

"The heat race was going pretty well," said Call, regarding his first race in four weeks. "I started third and was running fourth and the car felt pretty good. But about four or five laps in I slid into the wall.

"I entered too low on the cushion and I expected it to be looser on top. I expected the car to drift up to the cushion a little bit, but it didn't make it there. So I exited turn four with too much momentum going straight and I hit a slick spot and hit the wall. I kept going and finished the race, but I dropped back because the car wouldn't handle after that."

While the damage wasn't major, there was little time for Call and the CH Motorsports crew to make the necessary repairs to run the B Main.

"It wasn't major damage, but it knocked the Jacob's Ladder out of the rear end and bent some stuff in the bird cage and the torque tube," he said. "We tried making the repairs, but we just didn't have enough time before the B Main."

This Saturday will likely be Call's final race of his rookie season.

"We planned to just run Attica this year and their last race is this Saturday," he said. "Plus I'm busy with college now. I started Monday at the University of Toledo for engineering."
