Voges' story is third episode of ’One Good Turn With Joey T’ feel good reality TV series
DANVILLE, ILL.-- April. 3, 2007 -- The race is on and the television cameras will be rolling once again, Sunday, April, 22, 2007, at the Vermillion County Speedway in Danville, Illinois -- all for a good cause: "Sue Voges Night," honors Sue Voges, an Illinois State Trooper for 22 years who has been battling breast cancer for the past eight years but continues to help many others in the community who are also fighting this disease.
"One Good Turn" television host Joey Truscelli (Joey T), along with NASCAR legends Ken Schrader and Kenny Wallace, will be on hand for the event, filming the third episode in the One Good Turn television series which depicts Voges' courageous story.
State troopers and sheriffs' deputies will be overseeing the fundraising activities, accepting cash donations and selling the Hope-theme pink T-shirts to benefit the Mills Breast Cancer Institute, Champaign, Illinois. Proceeds will be donated on behalf of Sue, a local hero with an infectious personality and courageous spirit who serves her community by helping others. "We want to flood the stands with pink T-shirts," says Joey T, who along with 900 other friends and family members surprised Sue and Tim Voges last Saturday night announcing "Sue Voges Night" at Vermillion County Speedway.
For the upcoming event, NASCAR driver Ken Schrader will be racing his UMP Late Model "Red Barron Pizza" car, and Kenny Wallace will be driving his UMP Modified "St. Louis Cardinals" car. Accompanying the drivers will be the camera crew of "One Good Turn with Joey T," which will be shooting the footage documenting Sue's moving story. It’s all part of "One Good Turn with Joey T," a new feel good television series featuring the giving side of racing. Currently, the producers are approaching TV networks for airing and distribution, and all episodes will be available on DVD and for sale this fall at race tracks and
retailers nationwide.
Racers and racing fans are some of the most giving people in the world and they all come together in times of need,” says Joey T. “Our racing friends know that there is another race on the schedule to attend, the race to find a cure for breast cancer. For Sue Voges, and the thousands of women battling breast cancer, hope is their focus.
This message hits close to home for everyone, especially Joey T who reports that two of his family members have been diagnosed with breast cancer in the past few years. We need to find a cure for breast cancer, he declares.
Joey T. cites the role of community support, saying, “This event on April 22nd is surely going to break the attendance record at the track. Last Saturday night, over 900 people showed up in the middle of tornado warnings and thunderstorms to surprise Sue. We know that on race day, Sue Voges and the Mills Breast Cancer Institute are going to be the true winners.” He says that there will also be a big surprise waiting for their new friend Sue on race day. One Good Turn with Joey T is a new feel good television reality series about the giving side of racing. These moving stories show racers and communities joining together to help one of their own.
