CampingWorld.com 200 Truck Race Postponed due to Power Outage

A power outage at Gateway International Raceway caused the NASCAR Truck CampingWorld.com 200 to be rescheduled to 12:30 Saturday.

Track officials announced a power line outside the track was the blame for the power outage. A repair team worked to fix the problem but race officials announced the postponement at 10 pm, almost two hours after the original scheduled start of the race.

The drivers waited patiently with Gateway crowd and everyone is realized it is going to be a different race in heat of the St. Louis weather…

“The weather is going to be hotter ,” said Mike Skinner. “We are going to have make changes on the car tomorrow.”

Sometimes fans and racers fall victim to weather conditions, usually not power, but most seem to take things in stride.

“ It is what it is,” smiled Skinner.

The schedule for the Missouri-Illinois Dodge Dealers 250 Nationwide Series race will run as scheduled Saturday night. Qualifying will begin after the Truck race at 3:30 and the race will begin at 7 pm.

The postponement will give several drivers an opportunity win two NASCAR events in one day including NASCAR Sprint Series regulars Kevin Harvick and Brad Keselowski.

NASCAR Sprint Series points Leader Kevin Harvick may have the best shot at winning the daily double because he will start the CampingWorld.com 200 on the pole. He won the Keystone Light Pole Award with a lap of 33.752 seconds, 133.325 mph. It was the first time pole

James Buescher placed in 2nd posting his fifth top-10 start of 2010 and his first in two races at Gateway.

Brad Keselowski will start third points his first top-10 at GIR.

The rest of the top 10 in the lineup for the Truck race are: No. 4*Justin Lofton, No. 5*Johnny Sauter, No. 6*Austin Dillon, No. 7*Timothy Peters, No. 8*Ron Hornaday, No. 9*Matt Crafton*and No. 10Brian Ickler.

Steve Wallace will start in 22nd and Jack Smith driving the Mittler Brothers Truck will start 24th.

Steve Wallace will also try his luck race both races Saturday. He uncles Kenny and Mike will also race in the Nationwide race.
