There will be plenty of racing in the areas surrounding Stokes and Rockingham Counties, NC this weekend, March 30-31. While many fans will be attending the NASCAR events at nearby Martinsville Speedway in Virginia, they have a chance to get their dirt on as the action cranks up at the 311 Motor Speedway, denoted as the "Daytona of Dirt!" Located within short driving distance from the Martinsville area, 311 Motor Speedway will give racing fans plenty to talk about when they open the 2012 season this weekend.

The local dirt racing faithful have waited a long, warm winter season to hear the sounds of revving engines echoing from this humble, rolling countryside, where just across the back-straightaway you are given sights of quiet cattle grazing on the plush, green pastures and are within sight of the towering Belews Creek Steam Station on Belews Lake. Every Saturday night in 2012, these quiet, natural surroundings will endure an abrupt change of speed, when sounds of much smaller, yet louder thundering power plants will replace the silences of Belews Lake's towers and the pasture's crickets, frogs and whippoorwills.

Mr. Mike Fulp, promoter of 311 Motor Speedway and Mr. Larry Lee, owner of Carolina Clash, welcome you to 311 and round two of the 2012 Carolina Clash "Blue Collar Tour" and a new and exciting season of racing at the 311 Motor Speedway.

Come out and enjoy this cherished pastime in the foothills of the Eastern Blue Ridge, where the roots of North Carolina racing run deep and the thrills of cars in chasing roar are now appearing on-stage at the ringed-coliseum of historic lore! No doubt, it's race-day at 311 and you are invited to COME GET YOUR DIRT ON!!!

The stars of the Carolina Clash are ready to tackle the "Daytona of Dirt" this Saturday, March 31 for a $4,000 to win feature event. The race this Saturday marks the first of three trips to 311 Speedway for the Carolina Clash this season.

2009 Carolina Clash champion Jeff Smith, of Dallas, NC, 5-time series champion Ricky Weeks of Rutherfordton, NC, and 2010 and 2011 champion Dennis "Rambo" Franklin, are the most recent winners at 311 Motor Speedway with Carolina Clash. Smith ended a season-long drought at the October 2011 event with the victory, but not without having to hold off hard-charging Luke Roffers, the most recent Carolina Clash winner. Ricky Weeks also won a non-sanctioned race there last October.

Roffers has been very strong in recent events with Carolina Clash, posting a win, a 2nd, and 3rd in his last three outings, along with a 2nd and 3rd at the previous two trips to 311. He currently sits atop the points standings for the Carolina Clash as he picked up the checkered flag in the first event of 2012, The Skyler Trull Memorial Race, on March 10. Roffers will be carrying a ton of momentum into this event, as he was very fast there in the October 2011 event.

Johnny Pursley of Clover, SC, Luke Roffers, and Kennie Compton, Jr., of Bland, VA set fast qualifying times in 2011 at each of the three events in 2011. Compton's fast time in October was 15.946 seconds.

Two-time 311 Carolina Clash-winner Ray Tucker will be racing in the #21 Cassell Builders machine, 2011 Carolina Clash Rookie-of-the-Year Travis Yow, and according to their websites. Look for many of the Carolina Clash stars to be in attendance as they prepare to make early advances in the 2012 points standings.

Also on the card for March 31 at 311 Speedway will be the GM Performance Late Models (Fastrak Crates), the new 311 Motor Speedway Pro602 series late models, Limited Sportsmans, Stock4s Ucars. According to the officials of 311 Motor Speedway, the Carolina Clash 40-lap main event will start no later than 10 pm. There will be camping available at the track on Friday night, as 311 Speedway will host a car show and practice session for all divisions on March 30. However, the practice session is optional to any Clash team, but is not required.

Driver Registration will begin at 5:00pm. The drivers' meeting will be held promptly at 6pm and hot laps will start at 6:30 pm. All competitors are reminded that transponders are required for use in competition at all 2012 events. For more information on 311 Speedway visit their website at www.311speedway.net

311 Motor Speedway is located on US Highway 311 North, in Pine Hall, NC, which is near Madison, NC, adjacent to the Stokes/Rockingham County line.
