On a fantastic evening for racing, another large crowd of cars and fans converged to Moler Raceway Park for some Friday night excitement. Duane Chamberlain, winner of two races at MRP in 2007, picked up the Sunesis Late Model Spring Championship victory winning $1,500 for his efforts. "The Buzzard" Doug Adkins, a multiple time winner at MRP last season, won the UMP Modified event pocketing $1,000. Shawn McIntosh made the most of his first appearance of the season by winning the Pure Stock feature and Kevin Riggs bested a competitive field to win the Chevette feature.

At the drop of the green flag, "Insane" Duane Chamberlain lead the pack into turn one. Behind him, sparks would fly and cars would dice three and four wide, with Barry Doss, Arnie Fields, and Robby Hensley battling for the second position. On lap two sixth place starting, and former Moler Raceway Park track champion, "Lil" John Whitney came to life on lap three, first passing Hensley exiting turn four. As Fields made a move to the inside of Doss, Whitney would take his A-Maze-A Stitch Embroidery/Sauls Construction/Sardinia Concrete, Stephan Heating & Cooling/Baker Machine & Fabrication/Masterbilt to the high side of turn four, making it a three wide race across the line. Whitney would build enough momentum to clear Fields in turn three and would shoot past Doss for the second position on lap three. As the trio battled for the second position, Chamberlain would extend his lead and begin making his way through lapped traffic. The first caution flag of the event would wave on lap five for a slowing Josh Burton. On the restart, Daniel Kattine spun in turn four, bringing out the races second caution flag, and bunching the field back up. On the restart, Fields got a good jump and slid underneath Whitney entering turn four. Whitney would be the cause of the next caution flag, spinning his mount in turn three to bring out the races third caution. With ten laps in the book the driver on the move was Sardinia, Ohio's Billy Williams. After having some problems in the heat race and starting the twenty first position, Williams had used the high groove to work his way into the top ten. The field would take the green flag with Chamberlain still leading over Fields, Hensley, Doss, and Tom Sheets. Coming out of turn four on the restart Doss would slide under Hensley for the third position, but would have the move voided, as the yellow flag waved for Chris Shannon stopped outside of turn four. Lap fifteen controversy would ensure, as Doss and Hensley would make contact battling for position, with Hensley spinning and leaving the track with a flat left rear tire. Initially, Doss was called for rough driving and sent to the tail, but after further reconsideration, it was deemed Hensley's blown tire to be the cause of the incident, not overzealous driving on Doss's part. The running order was now Chamberlain, Fields, Doss, Mike Meyers, and Tom Sheets. The green flag would wave the final time on lap sixteen with giving Fields his last chance to make a move on the dominate Chamberlain. Over the course of the last nine laps, "Insane" Daune Chamberlain in his CW Watson Excavating/Dargie Race Engines/Rayburn Chassis would go uncontested and would extend his lead to over a straightaway on his way to the $1,500 Moler Raceway Park Sunesis Late Model Spring Championship victory. For the Richmond, Indiana driver this was his third career feature win at Moler Raceway Park and his first of the 2008. Following Chamberlain was Arnie Fields, Barry Doss, Mike Meyers, and eleventh starting Tom Sheets. Duane Chamberlain, Barry Doss and Arnie Fields brought home heat race wins. Chamberlain was the fast qualifier over the twenty-one car field with a 12.976.

The twenty lap UMP Modified feature would not stay green for long, as outside pole sitter, "Big Daddy" Shawn Tolson would have mechanical problems, bringing out a caution and a complete restart. On the restart, "The Buzzard" Doug Adkins darted to the lead heading into turn one. Behind the leader, Joe Hunley and Rick Jones battled side by side for the second position. Jones would bring out the second yellow flag of the event, spinning in turn four on lap two. The battle for second position would again heat up on the restart with Eric Shepherd diving to the inside of Hunley heading into turn one. Entering turn three side by side the two would make contact, with Shepherd spinning into the infield and bringing out the races third yellow. With three laps now in the book Matt Hamilton found himself in the third position after charging from the tenth starting spot. Hamilton's time up front would not last long, as he pulled to the infield on the very next lap. Lap four would see Hunley pull along side Adkins and challenge for the lead. Hunley nearly made the pass, but looped his car in turn one to bring out the races next yellow flag on lap five. Adkins would pull away from second place running Rick Bingham on the restart. Behind Bingham, Kentucky driver Ray Branscum and Dave Jamison battled for the third and fourth place with former Late Model veteran "The Sledgehammer" Spencer Watson chasing them in fifth. As the laps began to wind down, Adkins continued his blistering pace, lapping up to seventh place. When "The Buzzard" Doug Adkins took the checkered flag, the second through sixth place cars were directly in front him. This was the first win of the year for the Portsmouth, Ohio veteran who currently sits seventh in the UMP Ohio state championship points standings, Adkins also took over the points lead in the MRP UMP Modified seasonal points standings. Following Doug Adkins to the checkers was Rick Bingham, Ray Branscum, Dave Jamison, and Shane Mugavin rounding out the top five. Heat race wins went to Doug Adkins, Joe Hunley, and Rick Jones.

Versailles, Indiana driver Shawn McIntosh lead all fifteen laps to record his first victory of the season at Moler Raceway Park in the Phantom Fireworks Pure Stock division. McIntosh, the 2007 Pure Stock champion at the nearby Lawrenceburg Speedway, who also has a win at Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, Indiana was never contested on his way to the win. Behind him several drivers swapped the second position including Mike Keller, Roger Ison, and Kevin Hess. Ison solidly took the position with three laps to go, but was too far behind McIntosh to make a run for the lead. The race was only slowed by one caution and three to four wide battles took place the entire event. Following Shawn McIntosh and Roger Ison was Tim Carpenter, eleventh place starting Derrick Davis, and Brian Brewer rounded out the top five. Shawn McIntosh and Brian Brewer were heat race winners.

On the initial start of the Chevette feature, Brandom Elam would lead the pack into turn one, followed by Kevin Riggs, Josh Francis, and Miles Tarvin. Riggs would waste no time, looking to the inside of Elam on lap two. On lap three Riggs switched lines and began pressuring Elam using the high groove. Riggs would finally get around Elam on lap four with Josh Francis right behind the lead duo. Further back in the pack fourteenth starting Don Ellis was on the move breaking into the top five on lap five and working his way around Alannah Weiss on lap six to move into the fourth position. Elam made several attempts to work his way around Riggs, and was able to pull along side him, but could never complete the pass. This was Kevin Riggs first win of the 2008 and the biggest of his career at the Moler Raceway Park. Heat winners were Miles Tarvin and Brandon Elam.
