PEORIA, AZ - SEPTEMBER 24, 2012... Last Saturday night, Charles Davis Jr. of Buckeye, Arizona reclaimed the lead from Ryan Bernal in the closing laps to win the USAC vs. ASCS Grudge Series finale. The $2,500-to-win "Brawl For It All" at Canyon Speedway Park lived up to it's name with five official lead changes and plenty of action for fans to enjoy. For Davis, the 30-lap feature was his first USAC West Coast Series victory as he was followed by Bernal, R.J. Johnson, "The Real Deal" Rick Ziehl, and "Showtime" Danny Sheridan.

Following the ASCS dual heat race and passing point format, pole-sitter Brian Hosford grabbed the early lead. While most drivers preferred to run the outside line against the heavy cushion, Davis took advantage of a miscue to take command on lap three. The ASCS point leader looked to run away from the field, but fifth starting Sheridan had other plans and began to apply heavy pressure.

Several yellow flags would halt the action, but thirteenth starting Bernal found the bottom groove to his liking and charged forward. By lap thirteen, Davis and Sheridan continued their torrid battle for the top spot and Bernal entered the fray. The veteran drivers raced in close quarters and Ryan claimed the lead two laps later. With Bernal down low and Davis running the high side, the pair put on a show and swapped the lead back and forth. Sheridan, now faced with challenges from Johnson and Ziehl, fought hard to stay up front and keep his title bid alive. This battle helped the leaders inch away from the pack and Charles wrestled the lead away from Bernal on lap 28. Davis was not to be denied on this night and took the checkered flags in front of a packed house.

Piloting the Massey Motorsports' #50 Rod End Supply / Penske Shocks RSS, Charles Davis Jr. ran second in his heat race and third in his qualifier. With the feature victory, the 1993 CRA Rookie of the Year is closer to his first ASCS crown and placed eighth in the Grudge Series point chase.

Hollister, California's Ryan Bernal won the $5,000 Grudge Series championship with his second place run after a hard fought battle with Davis. Driving Keith Ford's #73 King Racing Products / A&A Precision Machine Spike, Bernal was fifth in his heat, second in his qualifier, and won the Competition Suspension Inc. / Diversified Machine Inc. Semi Main #1.

R.J. Johnson of Phoenix, Arizona came home third in the "Brawl For It All" and earned the night's LRB Inc. Race Products Award. Piloting Bobby Martin's #51 Weiler Farms / Pecon Builders Maxim, Johnson was third in his heat race and third in his qualifier. The former Arizona Midget Champion closes out the Grudge Series third in the standings.

Las Cruces, New Mexico's "The Real Deal" Rick Ziehl scored fourth at Canyon Speedway Park after starting ninth. Driving Ted Williams' #41W Diamond Mechanical / Mark's Nuts & Bolts Maxim, Ziehl ran fifth in his heat race and won the Integra Racing Shocks Qualifier #2. The 4-time ASCS Southwest Champion placed fourth in the Grudge Series points.

"Showtime" Danny Sheridan of Santa Maria, California challenged Davis for the lead before scoring fifth at the checkered flags. Piloting Keith Ford's #73X King Racing Products / A&A Precision Machine Spike, Sheridan claimed fifth in his heat race and won the SBI Fuel Systems Qualifier #4. The former Bandit Sprint Car Champion finished second in the mini-series point chase.

Roseville, California's Colby Copeland earned the night's Ringers Gloves / Kaeding Performance "Hard Charger / Best Passing Job Award" with a seventh place run after starting twenty-first. Driving Ted Williams' #74 Mark's Nuts & Bolts / M&J Trophies Ellis, Copeland ran second in his heat race, fifth in his qualifier, and fifth in his semi-main. For his efforts, Colby finished the Grudge Series twenty-fourth in points.

Josh Shipley of Peoria, Arizona won the 8-lap Extreme Mufflers Heat Race #1. Piloting Bob Bishop's #2 Beaver Stripes RSS, Shipley scored seventh in his qualifier, third in his semi-main, and fourteenth in the main event. After racing double duty with the ASCS2 Micro Sprints, Josh finished thirty-second in the Grudge Series.

Surprise, Arizona's "The Shermanator" Jeremy Sherman raced to victory in the Saldana Racing Products / Keizer Wheels Heat Race #2. Racing the Kittle Motorsports' #18 Pace Lighting / PJ1 Products Sherman, the multi-time Arizona Sprint Car Champion ran fourth in his qualifier and eleventh in the main event. Sherman closed out the Grudge Series twenty-ninth in the standings.

Brian Hosford of Gilbert, Arizona claimed the night's DJ Safety Heat Race #3. Driving Bernie Weber's #32B Coffin & Trout Fine Jewelers / Invision Auto Body Maxim, Hosford was second in his qualifier and placed fifteenth in the "Brawl For It All" after leading the first two laps. Brian finished thirteenth in the mini-series points.

Phoenix, Arizona's Bruce St. James won the SBI Fuel Systems / Integra Racing Shocks Heat Race #4. Racing his #7K Woodland Auto Display / Weld Racing Maxim, St. James claimed fourth in his qualifier and twelfth in the main event. Bruce left Canyon Speedway Park eighteenth in the Grudge Series chase.
