BEAR LAKE, PA – Nov. 2, 2010 – Chub Frank will close out his often frustrating 2010 racing season this weekend (Nov. 4-6), heading south to enter the Lowes Foods World of Outlaws World Finals at The Dirt Track at Charlotte in Concord, N.C.

The 48-year-old veteran from Bear Lake, Pa., will look to break into Victory Lane on the World of Outlaws Late Model Series for the first time in 2010 at a four-tenths-mile oval that has been a painful thorn in his side. He rode out the first flip of his three-decade-long racing career in the track’s 2008 Colossal 100, and he had to sit out last year’s World Finals after suffering a facial injury during qualifying for the Topless Showdown event that was rescheduled by rain to the eve of the season-ending program.

“Charlotte hasn’t been very good to us, but hopefully we can go there and end the year on a good note,” said Frank, whose 2009 assault on the World Finals was short-circuited when his cheek and orbital bone were fractured by an apparent clod of hard-packed clay that struck his helmet during a Topless Showdown heat race. “This season hasn’t gone the way we would’ve liked so it would be nice to go into the winter with a good run.”

Frank, who sits ninth in the WoO LMS points standings, will hit the Charlotte surface with his Corry Rubber/Hino Toyota Rocket car on Thursday night (Nov. 4) for two rounds of WoO LMS time trials – the first setting the lineups for Friday night’s heat races, the second aligning Saturday night’s heats. A 50-lap A-Main paying $10,000 to win will headline the Late Model action each night of the World Finals, which also includes the WoO Sprint Car Series and the Super DIRTcar Series for big-block Modifieds.

Frank will be chasing his first top-five finish in a World Finals feature. He previously placed 14th and 24th in the 2007 doubleheader and 12th and sixth in the 2008 twinbill.

The driver known as ‘Chubzilla’ has been idle since Oct. 13 when he finished 11th (after starting 19th) in the World of Outlaws Late Model Showdown at The Dirt Track. His autumn starts also include a seventh-place finish on Sept. 25 in the fifth annual Fall Classic ‘RaceFAN 50’ at McKean County Raceway in East Smethport, Pa., and a visit to Brushcreek Motorsports Complex in Peebles, Ohio, for the ‘Billy Bob’ event that saw him record two runner-up finishes (in a preliminary feature on Oct. 1 and the rescheduled first 50-lapper on Oct. 9) and a DNF in the 50-lap nightcap.
