I feel I owe everyone an apology for my words in tonight's opening ceremony. I am NOT sorry for WHAT I said, but I do want to apologize for HOW I said it. (language). I seriously get so mad when people cheer when a wreck happens. I know a lot of people like racing just for the wrecks. Anyone who cheers for a wreck should put yourself in the shoes of that drivers family and friends. They are a living, breathing human being with loved ones who come out to watch and cheer them on, just like you are there to cheer on your favorite driver, whether they are a friend, family member or whatever. There have been a lot of tragic accidents this year in dirt racing resulting in fatalities. It happens, but it just seems like its been happening more this year. So think about that before you cheer next time a driver crashes.

Also, yes I did get choked up while talking about Leffler. Why? Because from my seat (in the tower), as I'm speaking, I'm looking across the track into the pit area and thinking about our drivers. I personally know and have friendships with NEARLY ALL of our drivers. There were pictures posted online of Jason Leffler's little 5yr old son, Charlie, and as I'm speaking, I'm seeing images of this young boy who just lost his dad, and I'm seeing images of all of our drivers and their children, families, friends, etc... and knowing that accidents happen and COULD happen at any time involving any of my friends back there. So that's why I got choked up.

Anyway, I do apologize for my choice of words, but I meant every word I said. That's all.

Mike - Announcer.
